I don’t want to speak for a dead man but what made Post and his team think he would’ve appreciated this? I guess the charity element makes it ALMOST reasonable but all signs point to maybe you should do your own music instead of using a man who hated fame while you’re one of the most famous pop musicians in the world

Seems like you’re inappropriately speaking for Kurt WAY more than what Post just did

Not to mention these are NIRVANA songs, not just Kurt Cobain songs, and both Krist/Dave are cool with this

The burden of proof would be on Post to prove why he should do this, not on me to prove why he shouldn’t. I could be a little off here but while the records were recorded by Nirvana, most of the songs were Kurt’s. I’m not trying to speak for him but if there’s even a chance he wouldn’t have liked this then it’s not the move, and I don’t think it’s controversial to say there’s a decent chance of that being the case

Of course Dave liked it he’s a sellout just like Post

I just feel like doing it in this fashion, marketing it as a tribute show is doing too much. I wouldn’t be saying this if he threw a cover in there between his set. But using it as the main selling point is wack

And I just feel like telling people to cover living artists while they can still feel appreciated while simultaneously erasing and belittling the musicianship of Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl as nothing more than a footnote of Nirvana seems a little disingenuous

    But that’s just me

They’re capable musicians but I don’t think they’d dispute that Kurt was Nirvana. He was the main songwriter so when you talk about covers, the songwriter is the most relevant part of it. And I guess I also think Post should never cover anyone because he’s garbage and it’s an insult to anyone. He probably only did this because Bud Light and the Dallas Cowboys told him to

your whole argument hinges on viewpoints you keep putting in other people's mouths

that kurt wouldnt like post, that dave and krist dont think of themselves as important to nirvana, that post only did this because of corporate pressure.

None of this is substantiated, just say you hate Post and move on. Like that's totally acceptable to do lol, there's nothing wrong with disliking his music

but quit using made up talking points you attribute to other people to help validate your hatred

I didn’t say that they weren’t important to Nirvana just that Kurt was the most important by far.

And I guess at the root of what I’m saying isn’t just a dislike of post but a dislike of the fact that he’s the representation of corporate pop music and putting that idea of a man who’s father bought him his career with corporate money next to someone who’s legacy is kind of the opposite of that is just dissonant for me. It’s like Britney Spears doing a Velvet Underground show or something

I don’t believe in that hippy “don’t give energy to what you don’t like” bullshit, if someone doesn’t speak out on the Dallas Cowboys and Bud Light having a baby together and the baby using hip hop to get stardom and admitting he doesn’t like hip hop, then using nirvana for further stardom, then music will be doomed. I’m doing god’s work
