I don’t think Drake was supposed to happen. I don’t know if the industry higher-ups were expecting him to fall off on his own, or someone was going to replace him. But continuing down this path he’s been on breaking record after record, he could easily make the argument that he’s the greatest commercial artist of all time. I thought he was declining honestly, but the last 6 songs he’s released have been pure quality and very well received. They haven’t received much marketing though and brain dead scrollers have been quick to dismiss them without listening. A smash hit would turn the industry upside down.
