my theory is kendrick probably knows drake will drop on 25th so he might release a single on 18th which might cause other artists to halt their releases

It makes zero sense for Kendrick to drop an album this year when he's got the Super Bowl promo boost in February and he's fond of dropping his albums in Q1/Q2 of every year and then touring North America in the summer anyways.

Plus, I don't see him rushing out the release of his next album. He'll wanna have music videos shot and ready to be released for when it drops. I don't think he drops anything music-wise this year again.

Why do you think he plans on stepping on Drake's next album drop? What gives you that impression? That's something you've just made up entirely in your head and you're being paranoid about for absolutely no reason

SZA and other people around Kendrick could have heard the album was done or close to being done but that doesn't mean he'll drop it this year. He has no reason to. He's already "won" the year with NLU. And his last 3 studio albums have all dropped Q1/Q2 of a new year followed by a tour announcement and him playing shows in the US throughout the summer. That lines up perfectly for him with the Super Bowl performance coming up.

He has the Super Bowl in February. He has a team that isn't stupid enough to not ensure he takes full advantage of having that kind of attention on him when he drops his album, especially considering how the last one performed and how much expectation is on the next one. Kendrick is 100% gonna wanna wait till next year so people can make a claim that he dominated 2024 and 2025, something he's never been able to lay claim to. Realize that every move he makes going forward is for legacy and to push the perception that he's now the #1 rapper in the game.

Of course, there's always a possibility he drops this year but logically, it makes zero sense for him to do so. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
