Ok let me rephrase my criticism. Drake is notorious for starting a rollout that is discombobulated and inconsistent at this point in his career that looks amateur compared to his earlier albums. Delays can happen like when he pushed HL back because of Takeoff but I just feel like he is too liberal about starting something without a finished product ready behind it which is annoying to me personally

I never cared for a rollout so I probably can't fully understand this frustration but I get just wanting to have the album but I'm also of the opinion that living albums are better than finished ones

I just look at it like this

The way you approach something represents how you feel about it. The blasé approach is fine for music that you’re dropping in a vacuum, but everyone knows this album is going to be under a magnifying glass unlike any other that he’s dropped before. We have three eps and three songs that do not indicate to me that level of focus you’d expect with the context. I will wait until the album is in my hands to judge fully, but I can’t help but think Drake in 2015 would have done things differently. I recognize people grow and change totally fine and understandable but it’s more of a regression which is why it’s surprising/fruststing to me

Then in 07 when he started bubbling, just to take over Detroit and damn near the world in 08. Niggas was not trying to hear Drake at all before they had no choice

I feel you bro. I just think it sounds like we like different aspects of him. I don’t think his music currently stacks up to the back half although there may be things I do like better now. Overall we will see. I’m still excited for the album though

Correct me if I'm wrong but drake often has a long period between album announcement and album release. It seems he announces an album way before the album has any actual form to it and is more of a concept in his head. And a lot ends up changing.

I remember this a lot wih CLB where the actual album that came out seemed to have next to nothing to do with being a lover boy.

Idk, saying “Iceman Coming Soon” in July would definitely make some people believe the album would be out by like October at the latest
