still think drake going a full calendar year without releasing a project would do wonders for his inspiration
Bro has gotten so much better at rapping in the last decade. Was spinning stuff on views this morning and it was so much cringe on there not gonna lie even though the songs sounded great
"got so many chains they call me Chaining Tatum"
"You toying with it like happy meal"
To now where he's barred tf up on some of the latest cuts like Supermax and fighting Irish. Has me so hype for iceman š§

He's definitely done some of the best rapping of his career from 2018 till now.

Heās only a few weeks away from that

Nah I donāt mean 12 months, like a calendar year, like nothing 2026. He has dropped every calendar year for the last decade. I know better than to expect something like a two year break.
Iām not saying I wouldnāt listen if he drops, but I think this is part of the reason his music is so vapid. Man needs to live his life a little without trying to be omnipresent. He could come back with an absolute classic
Some may say heās doing that now but I think he hasnāt dropped simply cause heās reworking iceman after all the singles were duds. Heās not taking a break, heās overthinking his rap comeback post beef. Happy to be proven wrong whenever he drops tho
Itās kind of crazy how I feel like his fanbase has split off into like three different factions that canāt be more different

Blacks, whites, and Indians
Blacks, whites, and Indians
Nah. All just anecdotal evidence but
Casual fans - pretty much unchanged just surface level music goers that cross into his demographic
Millennial crowd - probably the best way I can describe it. People who grew up with Drake and are passionate fans but probably a little bit more removed from the āliving vicariously through himā and the ride or die mentality
r/Drizzy types - not even shade on the platform itself because I go there but this is really where itās deviated for me where people are like making a point of being JUST a Drake fan (not necessarily a hip hop first fan) and pretty much throw out any subjectivity. People that will not ācross the isleā so to speak and offer any nuance to conversations
you can tell the s*** come with highs and the lows
aperol spritz
eggs getting poached
caviar on toast
Truly believe that āICEMANā was a finished product long before the rollout started, but the lawsuit has changed the creative direction.
I highly doubt that Drake didnāt begin working on a solo album post-FATD (hence him wearing āIcemanā merch on the second leg Itās All a Blur tour), but I believe most of that work was abandoned after the Kendrick beef and became throwaways or released through 100 gigs.
Obviously, a pivot was made towards the rnb album w/ Party but I do believe from Fall 2024-Summer 2025 v1 of ICEMAN was in the works/completed - with WDIM being the lead single. I believe this album wouldāve comprised songs like Supermax/Fighting Irish/National Treasure and been more of a triumphant return/revenge album.
The lawsuit getting dismissed in the start of the rollout definitely forced Drake and his team to go back to the drawing board and rework some angles, because I do believe that Drake arrogantly believed that the lawsuit would go his way and would set the stage for him to dunk on UMG/Joe Budden/Kendrick. I believe the delay isnāt him ātweakingā the album but rather starting from scratch after shelving most of the original, hence why we havenāt heard much as far as a timeline or what songs are actually on the album.

Definitely has, but over time it seems like the more rational ones are growing
A lot of the conspiracy brained ones looking for revenge seem to be posting less and less

what are your thoughts on all iceman episodes songs being trash? throwaways?
lawsuit angle makes sense as he just randomly stopped dropping episodes out of nowhere

I donāt think ALL of the songs are throwaways - āStuckā, āLake Comoā, and āThatās Just How I Feelā seem to be CDQ and ready to go, but I donāt think WDIM, Which One, or DOGHOUSE make the album. I think WDIM was 1000% the lead single, so I could see a path for it. I think the fact it didnāt end up hitting #1 as planned doesnāt help either.
Then again, Iām not an insider Iām just a nigga with a keyboard and free time so take everything with a grain of salt lmao
