I think the 100 GIGS songs flopping hurt his confidence pretty hard shortly after the beef was over

No Face isn't bad but in my opinion he released this song way too early. He should've simply taken a break in 2024

What Did I Miss? never felt authentic because he was never really gone but still tried to tell us "oh, I was gone, did I miss something?"

Which One was whatever and flopped and people already tapped out of the promo when he dropped DOG HOUSE

i think 2024 was a mess. He saved himself but sacrificed the goodwill Sexxy Redd had and whatever good will Young Thug had left. I genuinely think Young Thug is received better after prison if he had stopped associating with Drake.

Then in 2025 $$$ was great and it seemed like he was regaining his swagger (while kind of hiding behind PND as that was hardly a collab album).

But then What Did I Miss was a disaster. It was the worst possible direction: passive aggressive, too beef focused. He sounded like a sore loser. And it wasn't a great song. I liked Which One but I'm not going to play it on repeat til it's attached to an album lol

Which One was actually a bit of a hit in the UK but I think it flopped elsewhere

  • Mr Carter

looking like cole and dot will both drop before iceman at this rate. feel like drake is trying to see how their carrying themselves post beef before dropping another rap album

I dnt think it has anything got to do with other ppl dropping

Which One wasn't a smash hit like Nokia but it did just as well as 100Gigs, No Face, What Did I Miss. I'd say these songs doing 150m streams are all still respectable. Doghouse was a huge flop though and was the song that made Drake pause the rollout I feel.

    Y’all gotta understand something man

I know it sounds absolutely crazy to say this

But a Drake song doing 150M streams in six months is not a hit man

    I KNOW THAT SOUNDS CRAZY

But we gotta remember how popular this nigga is and how big his fanbase is

In the grand scheme of things, 150M streams in six months for an artist as popular as Drake is pretty tame. Same can be said about someone like Taylor Swift or Bad Bunny or Morgan Wallen or whoever else is THAT popular

Plus, the song is currently getting less daily streams than Shut It Down, a deep cut from his debut album 16 years ago, so clearly Which One did not stick around whatsoever

100gigs s*** was fire but drakes strategy to release the songs was complete ass in terms of trying to get a number 1 or any type of hit.

I agreed with most of your points, but Central Cee has been flopping a lot in the UK, his chart presence isn't as high as you would think, Dave and Stormzy are bigger than Central Cee there

    It was everywhere UK radio

You can sequence an album like a mixtape/playlist, that's whatever. But the best tapes have little to no duds as well so that's not an excuse for dropping trash albums

i definitely got off track, but while I agree with you there, I won't mind as long as I get enough sufficiently high quality music, if there are a few misses on there.

I'm not saying that as much as a Drake fan, as I am a fan of trap/street music. For example, Drakeo and Gucci Mane are probably my number 1 & 2 right now by far, and I don't even process how good their individual albums are as much as the large volume of high quality songs they make that i enjoy.

so i guess i agree with you in a literal sense and always want as good of an album as possible, but if I can come away with a sufficiently high amount of songs I love from an album, I'm happy.

Yeah you not wrong, comparing it to other rap acts Drake is not doing that poorly, the only songs I can see that did better are Doechii - Anxiety 489m, Lil Tecca - Dark Thoughts 336m, Playboi Carti - RATHER LIE (ft. The Weeknd) 249m, Playboi Carti - EVIL J0RDAN 220m, Travis Scott - 4X4 156m, he is still one of the kings in that arena

drake kind of straddled the line that he mastered this year. like Cheerios getting leaked like it did was perfect, rather than get more intentionally leaked then added to streaming services then removed...

I feel if Drake wants to stream better like Morgan, Abel and Taylor and get hits he needs to get out of rap ASAP.

I don’t necessarily think it’s that, if he wants hits he just has to drop better commercial records

NOKIA was a step in the right direction

Right. That s*** was so messy. Wouldn’t have mattered how good the songs were, he never gave em a chance

Seems like a fumble to me that he didn't follow up Nokia with an EP or more songs like it

Seems like another fumble why he didn't sign Elkan to OVO since Elkan seemed happy with the Nokia situation. Got rich and never asked for credit or complaints.

Probably harder to sign artists these days, so many platforms to compete with who aren’t asking for 10 album deals
