TheFaderDrake is in a very specific and unique position compared to everyone else
his very specific and unique position is of desparation. he needs this album to be critically and culturally well respected, alongside being a commercial giant (like CLB) in order to regain leverage in his contract negotiations. by no means is he at any advantage IMO

TommyCamposAlbum has been teased/pump faked for a decade, delayed multiple times & several songs were dropped years ago. The rollout did not start this week.

These guys don’t really listen to cole or been anticipating fall off like that, now it’s a perfect rollout.

I agree, but I don’t know if he recognizes that.
I don’t know the guy at all obviously so this is just baseless speculation, but I feel like ultimately he still cares about proving that he’s the number-one guy commercially more than he’s concerned with getting respect critically.
I think he stopped caring about critical respect a long time ago.
That’s why I think he wants this album to be another pop culture moment; he hasn’t really had that with an album since CLB like you said

Said he was working on the album in ‘18 & it’s releasing 8 years later.
Drake mentions an album less than one (1) year ago & it’s an issue.

drake rollouts are always messy and terrible with bunch of pump fakes and trolling
The worst part is they have the potential of being excellent, like there are a lot of great pieces in the rollouts. They're just usually strung together terribly with too much loss of momentum between the different phases. Like 100GIGS and ICEMAN 1/2/3 were amazing parts of a rollout, but the momentum just died after each one

There are like 10-15 names Drake is absolutely not dropping an album the same day as, and four of them have already announced albums dropping in the next 9 weeks
Anyone who is guaranteed a first week sales number of 250K+, Drake ain’t dropping same day as them

Drake never dropping same day as other major artists is because they move their release dates knowing hes gonna drop. Drake is gonna set a date and drop regardless of who else is dropping
