I can’t for the album to drop so if anything we have to talk about the music one way or another I almost agree with the other poster to lock it until news comes out

  • RainemSteal

Ok if we are to be real. Is Drake even an artist to be taken seriously?

He’s in the Bruno Taylor Sheeran Gomez etc of artists

No one looks to him to
    Expand or push artistic merit.

    Hmmmm

Maybe read the conversation for context before making dumbass statements. I’ve said numerous times commercial success is a factor in deeming something a classic, but it can’t have commercial success as the ONLY argument

discourse around drake is way too sad and unnecessary for him to ever get a universal “classic” again which btw is a term that has lost its meaning anyway

I think his reputation has devolved to that over the years but there was a time when he was making some of the best albums in the music industry

    Nah I’m old
Enough to remember YOLO, Forever, Take Care etc.

Everyone respected him as a vibe but no one ever saw him as an “Artist”

not false at all, people didnt respect drake as a rapper. they would rather call him an artist than a rapper back between 2010-2014

I actually felt like it was better in that department than some of Drake's other music. It did feel at times like 21 was humoring Drake.

I do think 21 emboldened Drake to be more aggressive, but it's not like he had a lot of lines like I should be in there with Thug and them on there.

I like those but won't defend them

The lines where he talked about the abortion ban were so performative I liked them in a different way than he meant them.

i think drake wasnt being a thug i think was being a billionare on her loss

nigga was talking so crazy major distribution man my label on my d*** fr

Honestly, if Cole's album turns out to be good, that might put pressure on Drake to step it up.

I mean....Cole did drop a better album than him in 2021 already but now is different.

Drake isn't a legacy act like Wayne/Ye/Em/Jay/Snoop so he's going to have more eyes on Iceman and get compared to his peers.

    But I agree with you

Nah...niggas will clown due to Drake not being 2013-2018 level hot or even 2021-2022 level but the numbers don't lie.

Drake the main rap nigga competing with Taylor, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, etc. on the year end lists for streaming.
