Superstars post 2018……
You dont understand modern music. In the past, labels used to center one artist, but now a lot of subcultures have emerged, and algorithms have diverged, everyone listens to what they want.
Then why hasn’t someone done it
Look at any SoundCloud era rapper. Look at Russ.

This is a bad bad thing.

on what planet is he a superstar
Are you trying to say superstars literally didn’t exist in music before streaming like there’s no way please tell me I’m the one tripping here
Im saying that in the past, it was impossible to become a superstar organically
Im saying that in the past, it was impossible to become a superstar organically
You are wrong. Some conspiracy s***

I mean I guess, but if you look at actual superstars they’re all on major labels so this whole “organic” vs “inorganic” distinction for superstars doesn’t even exist
There has never been an independent superstar in the history of music idgi
Depends on how define both superstar and independent if you rise independent you’ll likely get picked up at some point but any person can decide to start making music today and have access to every person on the planet without the help of a label which is the point being made. Prior to that there was an insane amount of gate keeping, streaming helped reduce that.
This is a bad bad thing.
No, thats a good thing, now everyone listens to what they want to listen to. They dont have to listen only to things that reach physical stores or only whats playing on the radio/MTV.

Are you saying there is 0 gatekeeping in the music industry?
Streaming has conditioned listeners to see music as background content only. So that’s what is being made
Nothing memorable or challenging.
No incentive for young artists to make truly great s***. So no more stars.

There’s less now but there should be a s*** ton of gatekeeping. This ain’t for everybody.

Hard disagree, even if I think the music is ass there is probably somebody who will enjoy it

That’s where we differ

No they don’t. They listen to what the algorithm gives them. Eventually which will be all ai generated.
First time I smoked some weed, listened to the real her on YouTube but it was slowed to avoid copyright. I thought I was legit losing my mind and started slapping myself because someone told me it would help me sober up.
Good times..

Agree the incentives aren’t there but I think being able to find snd discover artist I might not of otherwise heard of is worth it. I don’t think there aren’t people doing they are just harder to find because the market is so saturated

Yes because as you said all this ass music can be created. And we have too much access.
I’m old and love music.
Music doesnt need to be to be remembered for decades, its something you move on to the next lmao, and it's your fault for not listening to todays artists; theyre trying much more creative and different things. So many great albums come out every month.
