So what makes streaming music ā€œbackground musicā€ and not cds or radio which were the most popular way to listen to music before streaming?

It wasn’t. It was mp3s. Which is personally my favorite era of music. The album era. Taylor swift latest album a great example of background music from a superstar adapting to streaming era. Also drakes past few projects.

they keeping with Cocaine Manziel’s stories and profile pic updates

Why do u act like this
Acting like it’s not normal for fans to keep up with how an artist rolls out their music

  • Free YoungBoy

The anti-art take imo would be to pretend music has no value if it’s not classic or memorable in 10 years.

It happens on this site all the time. An artist will have a 2 year run and then people will s*** on them for not having a Kanye type career like the 2 years of music they put out that people loved means nothing

See it all the time with rap and hip hop especially. It’s like if you’re not constantly peaking you’re ass and were always ass even if you have people hits they know every word to

Are you going to pretend every song made in ANY era was always great? No you just had more curation and people don’t want some journalist or radio host curating their music they wanna do it themselves

Man a computer is curating what you listen to

Timeless according to whom and what criteria? If I keep listening to that music, it becomes timeless for me, and I dont care what others think and as I said just move on to the next thing there is a lot of good music out there

You’re just exposing yourself and how you view modern music. The only thing that’s changed is now you have more freedom to listen to what you want to since music has become way more accessible and affordable

Streaming has conditioned listeners to see music as background content only. So that’s what is being made

    Nothing memorable or challenging.

No incentive for young artists to make truly great s***. So no more stars.

Dude has unlimited access to music from anyone at any time ever and thinks music has somehow gotten worse over time? People hate agency they don’t wanna pick the song they just want a song and to be told to like it

Streaming has absolutely led to everything being short form to increase engagement and thus money

Personal attachment to art that existed with physical media just can’t exist in a world where something ā€œbetterā€ always exist for each varied moment

    What does monthly listeners mean.

It shows how many different people are listening to you on a monthly basis

Man a computer is curating what you listen to

The ā€œcomputerā€ just says you listen to x artist, other people who listen to x artist also like Y and Z artist, so we’ll recommend you Y and Z.

That’s essentially what the algorithm is. Idk why yall try to make it out to be some boogie man.

That’s better than some suit at a label dictating what everyone hears
