Kendrick has been a leader and Drake has been a leader. Both in different lanes. The beef didn’t really change that for me. I’ve always felt that way.

That’s your definition and I respect that, but it’s not concrete, Kendrick has the discography, rapping abilities, accolades, and now undefeated battle record to be the guy, and it’s okay, he’s very good, and he worked hard for it, eventually it will be someone else and that’s okay too

I think he’s been a leader that has taken risks that have freed up new opportunities for various topics to be rapped about on commercial albums that may have been seen as too risky, not worth the discussion, etc. (from a labels POV) and made that s*** popular or much more accepted.

I’m not going to discredit Kendrick he’s been great. Just like Drake is great. In some ways, you have to look at the beef separately from their careers in total.

Accepting the feature request would not lead to utopia. All 3 fanbases would still be fighting over who had the best verse, who has the best discography, and who would win if they were to beef. I get that the beef exploded things, but we gotta stop acting like the debate/comparisons between those 3 started there and that it was only about music the entire time

Some people have said this but what topics has he allowed to go mainstream that wasn’t already prevalent? Kanye, Nas, Cole were already rapping about those topics. Only difference is that they’re very direct n relatable when rapping about the black experience instead of adding excessive concepts that the critics can rave about. To me his biggest influence came from how gkmc revitalized using concepts to tell a story but I feel like that wasn’t a new thing either
