When discussing an idea, context matters as to who the idea is coming from.

Jay had nothing to do with the beef and was roped into the discussion as some evil mastermind behind the scenes piloting a plot to destroy Drake. Him saying “maybe beef shouldn’t be a part of hip-hop culture anymore” isn’t a negative thing because he had literally nothing to do with it and his name was still made a part of it.

On the other hand, if Drake were to say it, or if Meek were to say it in 2015, or if Jay himself said it in 2001: the context is different because they all were the losers in their respective beefs. The context coming from them at those moments would be one of a sore loser position because they were directly involved in the battles they were referring to.
