I dont agree with this being views/clb hype but i think not dropping helping the hype and there is more than 5 months ago

And part of that is the longest we go away from those 3 mid singles the better for drake, people forget the ass lmao

I’m not talking about what I see on my algorithm

  • Views was preceded by two monster hit songs in Hotline Bling and One Dance

CLB was preceded by the SH2 songs going #1, #2, and #3 on the Hot 100 in that order

Scorpion was preceded by God’s Plan and Nice For What both being #1 for multiple weeks while he had Look Alive that was huge as well

Iceman doesn’t have anything tangible to say the hype is anywhere remotely the same whatsoever

So how are you coming to the conclusion that the hype is matching Views/CLB levels?

  • However, a hero who is overthrown and dies is hardly a hero, especially when, as so often happens, he is torn to pieces or sacrificed or eaten. Clearly, he would not have lost the contest, the battle, the election, the war, the woman, unless he was betrayed, as Germany was by the Treaty of Versailles, as the South was in the Civil War, as every loser always is: by bad officiating, rotten luck, corporate scheming, political cabals, racial plots. We may have dropped the ball, but we did so because we were stabbed in the back. So there is usually a Judas or two hanging around, waiting to do some dirty deed, an Iago with a hankie up his sleeve. We can disloyally switch our allegiance to the new ruler: the king is dead, after all, so long live the king; but if we remain with our original character, what have we left but scattered bits of a disgraced corpse or a sealed tomb to pass a lifetime’s vigil by? Well, the bits get put back together one way or another; the hero rolls away the stone which stoppers his grave; the followers of the betrayed and crucified king recognize him as restored and alive; whereupon, like Dionysius (his history now complete), he is pulled from the plot like the first gray hair, his name is given to a constellation, and he goes to dwell in the company of the gods.

Unfortunately I think it puts him in a spot where he really has to deliver

If it misses the mark it’s gonna be ridiculed 10x harder than normal

If it’s solid it’ll get overwhelming praise and be known as his big return

Every post IYTITL Drake album expect maybe HL was ridiculed on release. Like VIEWS was s*** on crazy on Twitter at time of release and now it’s a stapled classic.

ICEMAN gotta have hits tho - but initial critical opinion won’t matter for this album or any other Drake album

  • mjpplus

Ngl Drake could hold til May 15 if he won't drop on the 8th for CB or drop before May 1

I'll be damned if he stomps on Zay's date

Been waiting on that man for 5 years I'll listen to It's Been Awful first before Iceman tbh

You and maybe 17 other people my friend lol

The uncertainty is making people question what the album will sound like. The general consensus seems to be ā€œwhere’s drake?ā€ Maybe views and CLB are optimistic, but I definitely have felt the shift since the last iceman episode.

I don’t buy into the whole ā€œstarve the genreā€ narrative lol. That’s ludicrous. But I do think people are used to him dropping damn near yearly. His lack of presence is being felt. Not in the numbers or some conspiracy, but just because it’s him.

This era reminds me of how IYRTITL felt. We knew something was coming but didn’t know what it was. (not speaking from a KTT lens… I wasn’t here back then.)

It bottomed out and it’s on the upswing, I could really see a summer album

These delays only help the hype. He just needs to nail his rollout when it’s time for it to reach clb/views/scorpion era hype imo

I reckon too much stuff happened in the last month or so

The sudden media frenzy also didnt come from nowhere

It is pretty clear... hip-hop or rap aint doing too good atm

    Media and industry are struggling

They thought getting him out the paint would mean more spotlight for them... boy was they wrong longterm

They need a Drake album for content and to generate some views... again!

It aint about the music for them
