its just a shame I really wish it continued because it was so relative low effort in comparison with other aspects of a rollout. just some guys kicking it and playing records / mixes. it really showcased the tastemaking abilities of the team n drake. I feel like with all the mainstream appeal a lot of people don't recognize his taste

Holy s*** the first song Drake ever played on OVO sound radio said was Superman by black coffee. He was plotting on doing get it together for years LMAO.

First OVO sound radios episodes used to be lit af.

Would stay up to listen to it live.

Definitely put me on to new artists. It is crazy how many people and dope artists Drake/Ovo has shown love, yet he has been painted as being bad for the culture somehow... it is just so disappointing and insane to me.

Anyway, I have some dope sets/mixes left that I saved as playlists from 40, Nineteen85 and G0HomeRoger & Kid Masterpiece from early episodes. Some dope remixes and mash-ups.

That was like peak Views hype and whatnot. Listening threads to each episode.

Hearing the The Line and With Me premiered, when no one knew who dvsn were yet. That was great.

Good times. Simpler times.

Confused why?

When ppl say “the music fell off” I doubt they are talking about the stream numbers, they are talking about quality

The back catalog convo started when drakes new music wasn’t hitting, but yet stans would post the stream numbers saying he’s “bigger than ever” because of how many streams he has

But if you’re bigger than ever, then you’re new music should be performing bigger than ever, when it was always obvious the back catalog is what was controlling the stream numbers

I can see where they are coming from when the new catalog is also getting decent streaming numbers. He's bigger than ever because he's in the minds and hearts of more people than when he started. He hasn't made any Kanye level f*** ups yet. He's in the arena still.

I don’t disagree that songs are doing decent or whatever, it’s when the fans demean other artists who also are doing decent

Drakes ability to separate himself came from his ability to effortlessly drop mega hits and we just haven’t see that in quite awhile

I’ll use sports as an example, a player can be in everyone’s hearts and minds but still not be “bigger than ever” if he’s not performing like he used to, which doesn’t make him bad, just a bit past his prime, which is okay and doesn’t make someone a Drake hater for pointing out

Look I've posted on here multiple times too that we're a lil dismissive of other people's music so I see where you're coming from. On the other hand, boxing Drake into the 'mega hits' container would be too limiting to the range of emotions and moods his music soundtracks. I mean we're talking about a guy who dropped a CD with just well loved loosies on it. Was that move purely to spawn a hit or just for the love of feeding the fan base?
