Looking at the landscape today not even considering charts but the genre is definitely on it's death bed. We used to have multiple classics a monthly basis from 08-16. Something happened that a youtuber or critic can break down more thoroughly but from 2017 onward the vast majority of mainstream acts stopped chasing solid projects and started chasing hits to maintain relevancy and generate the most income possible. Longevity isn't something new rappers are taking into consideration for various reasons we can talk about

The OG's outside of Drake just coast off name recognition. I do like the direction Tyler took but yeah outside of Drake the Cole's, Future's, Kendrick's and all the other A or B-listers from past gen have gotten stale imo. You listen to an album once and there's no replay value and nothing really of substance to even begin with. The Fall Off specifically was disappointing. In contrast Honestly Nevermind, Her Loss, For All The Dogs aren't just hype week 1 but actually grow with you as time goes on. Drake played it smart thinking how will the music be received not just today but years down the line
