Interesting. Why can’t you always listen to an album?

Because an album's runtime is between 40 minutes and 1 hour, and you need to focus while listening to it, it's difficult to find a moment during the day when I can maintain uninterrupted focus for 40 min to 1 hour.

The fact that iceman was actually being marketed during Its All a Blur tour before the beef is so crazy to me

which "i have a dream song" song are you talking about? Also making a song from an external perspective is not unique in hiphop. Nas had done it with "i gave you power" and "fetus". kanye has used personification to represent chicago in storytelling with Homecoming and Common personified hiphop in "I Used to Love H.E.R.".

Using kendrick's contemporary, the warm up and fnl had countless very skillfully written story telling tracks. this was before gkmc was a thing. i just think may kendrick fans started listening to hiphop through kendrick so they view great storytelling tracks as something he invented which is why they masturbate over "Sing about me". not even going as far back as slick rick with storytelling, nas's discog is right there so i'm confused how they believe its unique to kendrick

oh its unreleased. ngl not interested enough in newer kendrick to listen to his leaks. i do agree that kendrick focuses a lot on concepts for his albums which i credit him for but after a while, it loses its wow factor. the beauty of gkmc was how he weaved the story telling of the whole album into individual song without it coming off as forced. each individual song works really well on its own.

i really believe that's why kendrick fans are so stuck on "sing about me". the culmination of the tension of gkmc is released on that song and it results in a strong emotional response from the listener. very different from fear and mortal man which while great conceptually, do not compare impact-wise.

basically, you don't get points for "concepts" unless you really knock it out of the park which kendrick imo hasn't done post tpab. tpab aged badly imo but he killed the concepts on individual songs like How Much a Dollar Cost and momma

I feel like when something comes up and I have to stop listening to the album halfway through, I need to start it over from the beginning. Otherwise it feels like the vibe gets broken.

Drake randomly wearing pants with β€˜iceman’ written on them -----> means the album was already recorded in 2020, the mixing and mastering were finished in 2021, and Drake started the promo in 2023. Incredible.
