Like in Joe's case I can see it being gifted because I'm sure he didn't care to get it for himself. Especially, with him and Def Jam's relationship. Or like Spotify sending Drake a plaque, feel like artists like that wouldn't care too much
What I will say for Joe, in terms of his music career, Pump It Up was and probably still is getting crazy syncs. That business model is being used by artists like Vince Staples that look for placing records in film/tv/commercials/etc
