Trolling aside, and prefacing I legitimately have him as the GOAT, I can see where a lot of he critiques come from.
I miss him having a few things in the music, and one is structure. Whether it’s a legit pop song like HOWGH, Hotline Bling, One Dance, etc. A truly structured song with a verse, chorus, verse, chorus… feel like he’s too attached to switches/pivots or simply just these streams of rambling he goes on and he strays from structure.
Second is the rapping approach. The bars are undeniable even to this day, but it seems like it’s either that Middle of the Ocean laissez-faire flow he’s classic for (and I love), or it’s gotta be some trap-adjacent beat and he’s whispering or doing voice changes. The 5AM, Tuscan Leather, 6 God (hell even the screaming flow dudes on KTT1 used to troll about), just a different approach to rapping that I can’t quite put into words. I genuinely love Iceman and think it’s his best rapping since I’m not even sure when, but I can understand the critiques. He’s using new flows, new pockets, etc, which to this day is ridiculous he can still do it, but there is something about the older Drake rap records that lacks in the some of the newer product.
Still, Iceman got one miss for me and it’s the 21 song. Shabang already grew on me something crazy.
Completely agree, i feel like
He’s comfortable in this 30 for 30 pocket that it’s kinda became a crutch. It’s still some great rapping nonetheless. The structuring of these songs is something new that’s becomes a bad habit but it’s working still
Only real miss for me so far on the album. Drake and Molly killed it. Pluto does nothing for me on the song imo
You just know Drake gonna give him a verse on his next album and the song prob gonna be better
I call @BAMSKI_backshots ”santa”

Love the albums too but this is one of my criticisms of them (especially HABIBTI) and newer Drake music in general. He's abandoned structure completely for beat-switches
Fr. I'm probably too old for this s***. I've known Drake before he ever started rapping and followed his whole career from wheelchair jimmy to best I ever had to now, I've been there for his whole career. A lot of the younger gens only got second hand knowledge.
I think the 'your bf a fisherman' line is also a rocky/rih sub too
unless someone else knows who he was actually talkin bout
My young boys don't do it for clout if they do it they cover they head and they mouth

Swear there's some s*** I'm forgettin about 03 out the slime when they lettin him out

Bruhhhh what?
Course not lol. No discussion to be had, it's gotten insufferable
And there is plenty to critique it isn’t perfect by any means but this brain dead style of just “ I expected 2012 Drake 2016 Drake or no mention of the beef entirely matured no subs just move on “ . Is genuinely stupid . UMG even wants him to mention the beef it’s more money in their pockets than if he drops the greatest dance track album of all time at a point where many are listening for the drama
