  • Make Them Cry - The intro and the first of the 4 Make Them... records on the album. The song serves as a prologue to the album with much reflecting and vulnerability. He questions the friendships he has, and the narrative that Drake is past his prime (But all I can think about is the mountain to climb and the conversations around my music like, did twin peak?) Mixed into this are signature lyrics and punchlines, a standout beint And I got a bunch of hits on my hand, see the swollen knuckles? As the song progresses, there is a brief moment of confidence from Drake as the beat switches into something reminiscent of vintage JAY Z. He speaks on one of his members selling their OVO chain, healing his traumas and being confident in the music he is dropping with (almost) no features. The beat switches again however, and we return to the somber tone the song began with. This portion seems directed to a certain individual, most likely a woman, who betrayed Drake. He finishes the record airing out all his grievances, and proves that there is much more to worry about than a "beef". He questions the listener - how many times have you tried to tell me I have a replacement? Insinuating that they've tried to wipe him off many times, but it's never worked. The song ends with Drake letting us know that his father has been battling cancer - which really puts in perspective what really matters. 8/10

Dust - This song is two parts. The first part is over an R&B beat and it is incredible. Drake is singing in peak form. This first verse closes the chapter on $$$4U - Triple $ was really to show you my love... but now I got to send it up. The song then transitions into a hard hitting rap beat. The transition feels to me like when a TV episode starts with a recap of previous episode (in this case the previous album) and proceeds into the new episode. While I love the concept, the vocals on the first beat were incredible. I wish he kept going with that pocket instead of changing the vibe of the song entirely. On the second part of the song, Drake antagonizes his enemies and declares himself a corporate america hit survivor. He adresses his haters as well, referring to them as his secret admirers. The second portion gives the listener a dose of what to expect with the rest of the album - triumphant raps of how Drake overcame. 7/10

Whisper My Name - This song continues the theme of Drake calling out his enemies. The chorus of the song reminds them to whisper his name, because if Drake hears they will face the consequences. The beat switches up about half way through the song, but it is more of a progression of the instrumental, and the lyrics over the new beat continue the same theme. He takes subtle shots at Playboi Carti and JAY Z on the song. The second verse has some clever bars like This s*** like the bag you bring on the plane, it's gon' carry on. Overall, a banger with a catchy chorus. 8/10

Janice STFU - One of the stand outs on the album. The chorus of the song seems to be heavily influenced by The Weeknd, as Drake stretches his vocals and plays with the pitch similar to how The Weeknd did on Iniation. There are also similarities to how Playboi Carti uses his voice. The chorus interpolates melodies of Lykke Li, a long time inspiration for Drake. All of this makes for an incredible, catchy hook. The verses are just as strong with one liners like 'rari go skrt (skirt) on a boy like a kilt. The end of the last verse heavily interpolates That's Just How I Feel - a song Drake released non-commercially on Iceman Episode 3. This was a great way to use the best part of that song. However, the song leaves me wondering - who is Janice? 9.5/10

Ran to Atlanta - The first collaboration of the album sees Drake reconnecting with Future, and newcomer Molly Santana came along for the ride. The first half of the song is incredible. After a intro from Future, Drake launches into an infectious chorus which only Drake could deliever. He then proceeds into a catchy verse which is uplifted by adlibs from Molly Santana throughout. The beat then changes and goes into a Future chorus and verse followed by Molly Santana's rendition of the chorus and a verse. Molly delievers a catchy refrain, repeating the line Molly Santana new Hannah Montana before Drake returns for a verse on the beat switch. I like both halves of this song, but I wish each beat was their own song and fleshed out. However, in it's current form, the song is still strong and catchy. 8.5/10

Shabang - A great club banger with an infectious and easy to learn chorus. He interpolates the drop of Don't by Bryson Tiller which gives the song a nostalgic feeling. The Migos adlibs throughout the song is the cherry on top. This song is for the fans of 2010's Drake. 8.5/10

Make Them Pay - This instrumental is very reminiscent of Kanye West production. Continuing the theme set by the intro, this is a somber song of Drake reflecting and reminiscing. Some great lyrics include I faced the way they paint me, but it hurts just like Philly Eagles. He faces the way he is painted by media, in a similar vein to football teams like the Philedelphia Eagles wear face paint. This hurts like Eagles player Jalen Hurts. He also addresses J. Cole on the song, stating that while he loves him, he can never forgive him for backing out the beef. He also goes at Rick Ross and DJ Khaled. Rick Ross catches it with I was aidin' Ross with streams before Aidin Ross had ever streamed. He then critizes DJ Khaled, a Palestinean American, for not saying free Palestine. There are far more lyrics to dissect on the song, but the greater theme of the song is wanting to be free. Free of his label and free of the pressures. 9/10

Burning Bridges - The first portion drags too long and messes with the vibe of the song. If it transitioned half way through it would have been much better. The beat switch was overall pointless. However, the second half is great. The chorus is a catchy snub at A$AP Rocky and the fact Rihanna didn't even post his single. The verse on this beat continues the same catchy flow the chorus began with. The song would be much better without the first half, but the second half is a highlight off the album for me. 7.5/10

National Treasures - Ruined the leak. The first verse and hook are incredible with complex lyrics going straight at Demar Derozan. However, there is another pointless beat switch produced by Wraith9 (EesDeeKid's producer) where Drake speaks on Kendrick's tour stop in Toronto. The leaked version was all over the first beat with an additional Drake verse and a verse from Pressa which was far better song structure wise than the released version. 5/10

B's on the Table - 21 Savage vocals on this were monotone and unnecessary. Drake should have done the chorus himself. I like the progression of the instrumental alot. Overall the song is a filler though. 5.5/10

What Did I Miss - Loved this song since when it dropped as a single. Drake asking us what he missed (not much) and asking the opposition when it all changed. This song was a great use of a beat switch, a triumphant return. 9/10

Plot Twist - This song was hyped since the snippet was previewed by Octavian. I think the song was a bit over hyped but still a great record. The song is a banger. 8/10

2 Hard 4 The Radio - My favourite song on the album. The record is homage to Mac Dre and the whole west coast. The first half is reminiscent of For Free. The second half shows how you should go in on a west coast beat. The beat switch shows the duality of west coast production. 10/10

Make Them Remember - I liked the first Make Them records but it's getting repetitive out now. There are some great lyrics on this song, some of Drake's absolute best, but overall the song is boring and drags on. 6/10

Little Birdie - The Kodak Black and Florida influence on this song is heavy. DJFrisco954 is known for speeding up songs and he produced on this record, hence the pitch switch. He did great with the sound - the song is groovy and fun. I think a feature from a Florida rapper would have elevated it though. This song is very niche though, and you need to know Florida rap to truly appreciate it. 8.5/10

Don't Worry - One of the best songs on the album. Such a vibe with an effortless chorus and verses. The Cardi/Nicki bar had me laughing. 9.5/10

Firm Friends - Conductor needs to stay away from Drake. Another song with great lyrics and deeper meaning (references to Drake getting out of his deal and going independent), but the production, delivery and cadence is so boring. 5.5/10

Make Them Know - The final Make Them record. This one is gets back on pace with the first two. The production is stronger and uplifts Drake's lyrics which have been strong on all 4 of them. One lyric I want to highlight is How do they say they got classics, if it's s*** that you never revisited? Which is something I agree with 100%. Drake has had better outros, but this is still a solid way to end the album. 7.5/10

    Total: 140.5/180 - 7.8/10 (B+)

Overall, a great addition to Drake's discography. Some of the complaints I've had since For All the Dogs still exist - pointless beat switches and monotone lyrical songs - but the pros far outweigh the cons.
