I actually like it. It’s deceptively simple but hard. Probably one of the best rap songs ever for real

The pentagon scheme goes so hard with the video and ending with the Hov shot

Yeah the video is incredible. seeing the headlines set during ep4 was ridiculous

but the carry on bar, the comic con, erewhon idk those didn't do it for me lmao

I loved the carry on bar right after the Farrakhan one. Simple but clever. He’s really set on not fixing the smoke

  • Best part about being a Drake fan is you don’t have to wait years for more music. He dropped 3 incredible albums & he’ll probably be back again later this year

    Prejudice =/= preference

Calling someone a "bad boy" for liking a song like True Bestie is not about preference, that's internalized homophobia

Not saying you did that, but this conversation started based on what Valentine said

Oh i ain’t know he said that I just was talking bout the song/album

This is one of the most obvious classics I ever heard

Like you have to be a brain dead hater with horrible taste in mainstream rap to rate this unfavorably

If you like current rap production, you have to like it.
Lyrics are leagues above someone like Don Toliver, Travis, Carti or Future.
    Flows are top tier.
The only thing I can accept is not liking Drake's voice.

Facts and even that is like a disqualifier bc if you don’t like Drake’s voice then you would never like any of his s*** anyway no matter what he does lol he can literally make My Beautiful Blueprint for an Illmatic City and you will hate it if you hate his voice

That only leaves one rational explanation for an unfavorable opinion on this album: a bias towards Drake as a person

That’s cool and all every artist has people who just don’t like them but when the people we are supposed to consider professional critics and journalists became haters that’s when s*** shifts to being a disservice to the culture. Like do your f***ing job and tell people if the music is objectively good or not in comparison to other releases in the sub genre that it exists in for f***s sake

I could definitely see someone not enjoying the content of the album. It's a good album, but it's almost exclusively about his beef with his record label and his opps in the industry

Drake’s rap songs have always been confrontational though

And rap in general is confrontational, competitive etc

Don’t know what kinda other content one would rationally expect from a pretty much all rap Drake album

I think there's a difference in a general sense of being confrontational (Energy, Headlines, Worst Behavior, No Tellin', etc.) than an entire album full of songs that are overtly about a very specific very public situation that has been a shadow over all hip-hop news for the past two straight years (Dust, Whisper My Name, Make Them Pay, What Did I Miss?, 2 Hard 4 The Radio, Make Them Remember, etc.)

I like the album but I could understand how someone would just be burnt out on the subject matter of the project given the past two years of hip-hop discourse

I mean yeah content is one part of it, but in the end it's music and the music is great on Iceman.

People listen to Don Toliver's h**** middle school level lyrics and say the music is important, so why don't they apply the same rule on Drake
