This is very true. I'm Ethiopian and people take a lot of pride in the fact that it's the only African country that was never colonized. Our two wars against Italy is a central part of our national identity and mythology intertwined with religion.

It's a type of nationalism that Americans who never seen a full invasion of their country being fought against by pretty much their entire country couldn't ever relate to. So yeah this will definitely bring a whole new level of nationalistic fervour to Ukraine.
