Depends on what those goals are imo

Or do you think Cuba was wrong for intervening military in Angola for example.

Angola was occupied by an jmperialist power and was struggling to break free. Cuba didn't really invade so much as aid the Angolan people in achieving their self determination. Portugal was the occupier.

There's no contradiction here. Portugal invaded and seized a land not belonging to them and the Angolan people were right in struggling for freedom

In this case, ukraine was previously occupied by Russia. The Ukraine language was suppressed via russification and has only just been revived in much of the country. Invading to impose whatever pro Russian goal is unjust, when the government of Ukraine is elected and derives legitimacy from the will of the Ukrainian people. Those are drastically different examples.

Well technically it was an invasion

I'm not saying it's comparable to if Russia would invade Ukraine, just saying isolationism isn't a good thing imo

It's so simple just say we not gonna let Ukraine in NATO and leave it at that

Anybody who considers themselves to be on the left should be in favor of dismantling NATO anyway

It's now basically just a giant weapons program for the US and used as a tool to legitimize imperialist invasions because it can't be imperialism when other countries do it with us!!

Why does Russia want to invade Ukraine?

crimea is the entirety of russia's only access to a warm water port to access the atlantic in the winter.

it's essentially a death sentence for russia to not have any access to it in the winter and the us aligned countries know that

current strategy seems to be to supply ukraine with as many arms as possible.

basically acknowledging that if russia wants to take the country, they will succeed, however keeping it will be as annoying as humanly possible as insurgents maintain the fight

eastward nato troops seem to be a deterrent for further moves and raising the stakes

Eh not quite because Ukraine will still try to align itself with the West/away from Russia whether it is formally part of NATO, the EU, etc or not, and a western-aligned Ukraine is inherently an issue for Russia

For sure, Russia'e ambitions in Ukraine go further than it not being part of NATO and there will still be some tension. But there for sure won't be any talk about an invasion.
