Statement makes total sense though because the state propaganda in Russia is that no cities are being bombed and this is a Donbas special operation. Now he wants to blame Ukraine for having to go farther because they’re protecting Donbas too hard.

All of his messages are intended for the Russian population only to try to save face through propaganda.

Of course it’s favorable to the Russian narrative. The narrative is that there are no Ukrainian cities being bombed and that the operation is only in Donbas. He’s now threatening to “go further”, despite the rest of the world seeing that he crossed that bridge a week ago.
