scoopLast week, on St Patrick’s Day, the world was greeted with the stomach-churning news that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi would read a poem about Ukraine by Bono over a lunch in Washington DC. Bono, I think, comes under a lot of harsh and undue criticism. Most of all from his fellow Irishmen. But even the most unfairly maligned people deserve to be a little bit maligned sometimes.
Bono’s poem to Pelosi – an annual tradition as it turns out (weird) – was a series of conjoined, half-rhyming, arrhythmic limericks musing on St Patrick’s reverberations through history, and most recently how that has found its expression in the invasion of Ukraine. So far, so deeply tonally inappropriate.
“The snake symbolises/an evil that rises” reads a particularly wince-inducing couplet. But if the rhetorical flourish of using snakes as a metaphor for Putin and Russian imperial expansion was not boorish and glib enough, the great kicker comes at the end: “Ireland’s sorrow and pain/Is now the Ukraine/And St Patrick’s name now Zelenskiy.”

So Ukraine has joining NATO in their constitution, it's legally binding and needs at least 2/3 of parliament to change that? Does this make a neutral status even more difficult? Zelensky needs most of parliament and in extension most of the Ukranians to agree with this. Correct me if i'm wrong, but seems a lot of Ukranians don't even want a neutral status. Feel this will end up in a longer (guerilla) war and Zelensky might indeed be killed by nationalists if that neutral status even happens. Thought that was the least worrying of the Russian terms for Ukraine, and that they could agree on that at least

Ocado is redesigning a new logo for its fast-track Zoom service less than a week after it was launched, after drawing comparisons to the Russian battle symbol used on tanks and other military vehicles in Ukraine, Sarah Butler writes.
The online grocer unveiled the logo, featuring a white swishy Z on a pink circular background, last Friday. But on Thursday, the company said it was having a rethink after its design quickly drew comparisons with the “zwastika”.
One campaign group flagged the logo on Twitter alongside a Ukraine flag. It tweeted: “What a time to launch a rebrand using a white ‘Z’.” Another observer said it was “not a great time for Z brands”.Emily M Austen, the founder and chief executive of of the PR agency Emerge, told the Grocer trade journal, which first reported the logo change: “It’s not usually the longest page in a brand briefing document but ‘avoidance of invasion-based logo likeness’ is usually a given.”
Ocado said on Thursday: “In light of current circumstances we are making a small change to an icon ahead of our upcoming Zoom by Ocado rebrand.”

China has to invest into a very lossy Russian market to fill the vacuum the west left. They won’t see turnaround until 23-24. their gains will be absolutely massive once Russia’s in the Chinese sphere though.
