No for sure the actions of a state aren't always just simply directly the cause of some cost-benefit a***ysis on behalf of its capitalist class, that's thinking too mechanically
But its broader ideology can change over time, like we've talked about before, the US didn't always portray themselves as the protector of democracy until after WW2, and US ideology and its foreign policy rhetoric has shifted substantially after the fall of the USSR
I mean even in China we've seen a shift over the years as well
I don't disagree all I'm saying is that I don't think China is going to just up and change it's policy to a ground-breaking on a short-term basis due to wanting to grow their economy,it would essentially require a catalyst in the form of major events or forces to allow such to take place, which would be borne more than just the desire to expand material conditions alone
Russia will most definitely win the conventional war- at least in Donbass.
They probably will struggle to get much further
It's when the Ukrainians start using bombs, lone snipers, and civil resistance that s*** gets interesting
The aim for the west will be to get ukraine into the EU, as well as Georgia. And aid ukrianian resistance

I struggle to see their progress in the Donbass being undone by Ukraine alone

I agree, but that isn't the extent of the war. RU offensive capability will eventually exhaust itself and they will stop being able to advance.

Yeah and they’re still walking away with a quarter of the country at least regardless lol

Ukraine will still exist as a democracy

You’re delusional if you think Ukraine is a democracy
And losing a significant portion of your territory is not “winning” lol

They're already using car bombs to assassinate important people. Somebody just died in Kherson a few days ago by one.

Ukraine is absolutely a democracy, and Russia’s goal was annexation. No one expected Ukraine not to lose any territory.

Since when does liberal democracy mean banning 11 opposition political parties lol
everyone should just agree to never engage with a plankton post so he goes insane thinking he's been shadowbanned

doesn't work if you tell me

they are in an existential war
they are in an existential war
It's not existential at all lol it's a seperatist war
And even then banning 11 opposition parties is not exactly what you call a liberal democracy
But it's funny to see when a country is allowed to take undemocratic action because of an outside threat and when they're not

If russia accomplishes all aims, ukraine is a client state. To a country aiming to democratise, thats existential

The peace deal they proposed didn't involve regime change or "denazification"
It included sovereignty and recognition over Russian/seperatist territories and no NATO membership
That's not existential
Out there; but plausible
