The USSR offered to invade Nazi Germany and overthrow Hitler with the French and British, but they refused, because to them the NSDAP as a bulwark against communism was preferrable to the KPD of course.

So they gave them the Sudentenland, without Czechoslovakia having any say in those negotiations of course. The British, French and Polish refused to sign a joint defensive military pact with Czechoslovakia and instead they went to Munich to hand the Sudentenland to Hitler, while Czechoslovakia wasn't even allowed to attend! Even after all this, the Soviets wanted to defend Czechoslovakia from being fully annexed by Nazi Germany, but they were denied passage by Poland. And the British even threatened to freeze Czechoslovakian assets if they denied German sovereignty over their land
Only after all of that, the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact came to be. The Soviet Union correctly observed that the West had no interest in fighting against the Nazis, and were willing to force other countries to give up sovereignty over their land to Nazi Germany. Knowing that the Nazis were eventually going to attack them, the pact was a desperate move by the Soviets to buy themselves time from the German attack against them that the western powers proved to not be interested in preventing. Even after their declaration of war, there was no western front until may 1944

The difference is thay for the Soviets their pacts with the Nazis was at the worst a violation of principled anti-fascism, whereas for the west their pacts were motivated by principled anti-communism.

Hard agree. Anti-communism is the correct view but it being the center of one’s worldview leads to right wing idiocy. Same with anti-fascism and left wing idiocy.

My criticism and you gotta take this in the best faith possible is that communists aren't wrong about everything and there is value in a lot of what they say. And liberal democratic projects can accomplish all they want but taken in an ideological direction you end up blind to the fact that cultural background determined what people see as ideal. Which is why you end up completely f***ing ruining plaves you try to force along your ideal.
I'm rambling but we did Iraq and the dark side of Afghanistan
Returning to the whole point of this thread. An imperialist power has used ideology and lies to stake a false claim and opposition to the invasion of Ukraine just isn't about liberalism vs communism jts about liberalism vs an especially corrupt and dictatorial imperialist power which is doubtless the worst of most evils on earth today (the government, not russia as a whole)

Anti-fascism being central to a worldview is a bad thing?

Anti-fascism being central to a worldview is a bad thing?
Yes? Lol. Look at all the people that call themselves anti fascist and riot and burn down buildings.

Cognitive dissonance
do you know what that means
Yes. People being anti-fascist has little to do with economic damage that occurs in protests, but rather other motivations that correlate with it

Getting hung up on anti-fascism leads to radicalism. It's just like the people on the right who think everyone left of center is a communist. Radicalism leads to violence

Do you think it just arbitrarily leads to such and not because of an actual exposition of the fascist condition of the United States that anti-fascist a***ysis leads to
