And yet their populace still view the US as a threat to world peace and democracy

Countries are not allied by popular decree

That map is based on a survey from 2013, but I guess that flies as a proper citation around these parts. Nor would that even necessarily mean they don’t support alliance with the US, and lord knows what that has to do with support for Ukraine.

2021 and we are still discussing whether or not “USA BAD” is something that a majority of people entertain, don’t change the topic

I mean the USA is technically a threat to democracy because Trump might win again and the way the GOP is going

I don't really think this closely ties to "the left" mentioned in Tragedy's post, or the America bad brain rot bit you replied with,

It was more about countries responses to certain aspects of the war and what should be done?

Don't see a close connection here tbh

I would say this is somewhat relevant enough until a new thread is made for this specifically, Azerbaijan being former SSR lol

I’m not just talking about the left. In that poll you see strong support for intervention (non military) in the Ukrainian war, and even a majority for helping in spite of rising fuel prices!

Maybe you thought I was implying "America bad for supporting Ukraine" but I was seriously only talking about your post by itself.

Like as a general statement. if that makes sense

Russia is obligated to defend Armenia under the terms of the CSTO

Russian peacekeepers broker peace in the region in exchange for Armenian soil as a base to consolidate power in the Caucasus.

Despite this Armenia has made steps towards the rest and doesn't really operate in lockstep with russia. Meanwhile NATO sides with the Azeris cause of Turkey

So potentially yes, it's a weird and confusing situation in the caucasus

I meant originally. The America bad thing is in reference to what I was replying to before you for some reason took issue with an uncontroversial statement and interjected.

If you look at a lot of the pro russian discourse on social media you'll see far more anti Nato/MAGA Trump/Libertarians than folks on the left.

Just look at popular channels like The Duran, The New Atlas, etc. Even Jimmy Dore & self described Marxist Jackson Hinkle's audience are made up of libertarians and MAGA stans. Dude just did an audience poll and 43% of his audience said they're either MAGA or libertarian. Only 22% said they were Marxist.

The discourse of the past two years or so has pretty much validated Horseshoe theory. Look at people like Glenn Greenwald going full MAGA and calling Tucker Carlson a socialist. Real red-brown alliance s***.
