IceTrainMost African Americans don’t care about Africa as much as social media will lead you to believe. Africans with ties to their heritage will always be more invested in the conflicts of the continent no matter what, regardless of where they move to.
There’s a lot of passive aggressive hating between the two communities thanks to Colonialism and slavery. There’s a huge stereotype that all native Africans/Africans who know their heritage think most AA are lazy, uncultured, embarrassing, etc and a lot of AA don’t appreciate that and are dismissive of what happens in Africa because they think “fuck it they don’t like us anyways.”
I mean just look at the Jamaican community versus the AA community them Jamaicans be talking crazy s*** about us. Once that trauma gets resolved I can see more AA being more invested in African conflicts in their free time.
Man this s*** is mostly in the past. Rarely hear about it nowadays
Yea when we were in school african Americans tended to be very nasty towards us but our closest friends back then were still other african Americans
Most africans, caribbeans and african Americans past the age of 18 don’t subscribe to that s***. Got to the dmv, toronto, nyc, atl, houston etc the communities are as close and as intertwined as you can get for distinct communities
