So then it's not relevant lol

governments not caring about arming the far right doesn't mean that we don't have to care lol

    fun guy

his threats to Finland and Sweden seemed like empty threats just for intimidation tbh, there's no way Russia is that stupid or that Russian officials would ok that

thats like woat case scenario and at that point doesnt seem like there would be any way to prevent numerous diff countries getting involved and escalating into something way worse

also, can aid alone prevent Russia from taking Ukraine? not so sure bout that

Idk much bout Finland, but Sweden been a big partner of NATO too. If he goes that far west he def has war with other European countries too

The US in particular learned after the failures in Vietnam that imperialism can be done more effectively by funding and arming far right groups abroad so that Americans can sit back at home, benefit from the exploitation of workers in the developing world and not question their country's rabid imperialist actions.

NATO countries funding and arming Neo-Nazi fascists in Ukraine is no different.

It’s relevant in the case of forming your own independent opinion and wondering if this was the right thing to do. Or are you just a parrot?

that is not how the Americans looked at this in the 1980’s and I don’t think you even know what mujahideen means

Mujahideen is just a word for “people engaging in jihad.” It was a catch all for the numerous anti communist militias across Afghanistan. The US basically threw money at the Pakistani ISI and said “hey, send money to who you want. They’re fighting the Commies so we’ll just spin them all as freedom fighters.” No questions asked.

And the ISI did just that. They sent money to regional warlords of all shapes sizes and ethnicities. My moms grand uncle was a massive warlord in Qandahar who fought the Russians. They sent money to Pashtun nationalists and non Pashtuns. They also sent money to pan-Islamist militias like those established by CIA asset Osama bin Laden. The militias were nothing in comparison to the warlords in terms of power and influence but they attracted members from all over the Muslim world. And look how it turned out in the long run for them. They became a major factor in Afghan politics because they had the ideological objective to do such that superseded the immediate goals of these warlords looking to protect their villages and provinces

And the mujahid were not United at all. There was infighting. There was ethnic cleansing. There were massacres, nothing that had been happening stopped unless there were communists there.

What’s different between that and the US throwing weapons at the Ukrainian government, saying they’ll spin everyone as a freedom fighter, and then sitting back and putting their feet up?

I respect this knowledge and see what you mean so sorry for my ignorance

Even so, proportionally nazis are so much smaller in number, the risk seems lower. Also this is sending arms to a government with democratic legitimacy and the backing of most of the population. Not scattered independent groups.

Osama bin Laden’s militias numbered in 900 in the 1980’s

And what’s stopping the Ukrainians from forming a fascist government? Nazis aren’t the only fascists to exist and they can easily reform themselves to purely reflect Ukrainian imagery. They can easily appeal to wider Ukrainian society by simply changing their aesthetics while espousing the same ideals

  • Feb 26, 2022

And the Ukrainian government is upholding a nazi military unit, they have no interest in getting the recipients of their weapons

Unless you got some kind of degree in geopolitics, “forming your own opinion” is not it. Please tell me you don’t also support “forming your own opinion” on getting vaccinated.
