My partner/mother of my daughter is partially Black and partially Chinese. She told her grandparents (who are both born and raised there) that she wanted to visit China and they straight up said "Baby girl, don't do that... There are a lot of hateful people there who will hate you just for being brown."

It's crazy to me that she wants to have the opportunity to connect with a part of her cultural heritage but can't because she more than likely won't be accepted. Sad as hell.
