Frankito, genuine question, what’s your opinion of this guy? He is why Iran is Shia but he also kind of saved Iranian national identity no?

Lots of arts and literature came out during the Ghaznavid and samanids cause they were a bit more chill. That's what keeps an identify and language alive.

But Shah Ismail was alright he had good management skills and unified Iran. All these dynasties the first guy that started it was alright but the offsprings f*** it up. Safavids ended up losing afghanistan and if it wasnt for Nader shah Iran'd be called afghanistan today.

Iran being Shia is not like a problem. Shias and sunnis can live alongside one another. The islamists on both sides are the problem. The sunni islamists are the same s***. Wahabbis and shia mullahs and the taliban akhundzadeh type beats ultimately all believe in the same qutbist s***.

Being shia helped to separate from Arabs. It was ultimately a good thing. Saved the language. Also didnt have to pay them taxes no more.

Shia is all about storytelling. Thats what persians excelled at. Thats what mullahs were good at and needed to do to get the attention of people. It's all bullshit stories. A lot of it parallels the old iranian fables of shahnameh and s*** like that.

Banning RT rly is disgraceful and tbh also a direct attack on the left

They often have on leftists on like Richard Wolff, Slavoj Zizek, Abby Martin and others, unlike any Western msm

It won't be the only one either, they won't stop here

aight its my turn to post a stupid hot take

what if Putin commits these atrocities precisely so people would deem him a mad man and he then might get out of the position he's in? id imagine he's backed by some truly powerful people, so he has no way to quit willingly. but maybe thats his way of 'getting out of the deal' through committing literal war crimes just because there's nothing else that can get him relieved of his post?

my brain is quite literally frying at this point

What is Putin doing now that the U.S hasn't already done in numerous countries around the world ? The "wow putin is crazy" narrative is so stupid.

can it be a part of 'using leftist arguments as Russian propaganda,' something that I mentioned a while ago itt? im not super familiar with RT but I know they're Russian state-sponsored; though I did see some leftist-adjacent coverage from them at different points in time

It's not any more inhumane than anything the US has done, I mean Russia has shown constraint compared to American shock and awe campaigns. But it definitely is a really dumb move from just a strategical pov.

Well it makes sense why RT would promote leftism in the West no? The same way that Russia supporting leftist governments in Latin America weakens the American empire, promoting leftist thought in America weakens the narrative of the US empire, especially with regards to imperialism.

If only the West was supporting leftism instead of Nazism to weaken Russia

Only the U.S and NATO can go around bombing civilians, orchestrating coups and medeling in other countries politics. Any other country that do the same is blasted with sanctions, ostracized from the West and labelled as "crazy and evil".

no man... putins just got a boner for tsarrist russia and wants to see a "fifth russian empire" come to pass... he thinks the loss of the ussrs vassals states post-berlin wall as a huge slight from the west against russia's sovereignty in the region... he sees kiev as being historically russian... he wants the baltic states back under kremlin influence... hes a conservative

Exactly, Russian state media in Russia doesn't platform leftists the same way that the English speaking versions do. It's definitely an interesting strategy from Russia tbh

If he could snap his fingers he would bring the Czarist empire back, but there's no way he's gonna take any action to accomplish this, they're in NATO don't forget lmao

ofc he's limited by the disparity between the material conditions of his military and nato's

A journalist on TV news last night tried to subtly suggest that Putin wants to bring the USSR back, which is an insane misreading of the situation

It's hilarious that some low info westerners unironically think he's a communist

Mf even took the time to s*** on Lenin when declaring the Donbass republics independence
