A lot of actors seem to be voting no, this might not be over
honestly allowing any concessions on AI is a loss for the actors
man wtf is going on over there
this has to be the result of the well-known and established actors leading these union meetings viewing voice acting as "supplementary" to their main work and, bc of that, seeing no problem in licensing out their voice for "passive income"
man wtf is going on over there
Bruh wtf?
Bruh wtf?
its looking like professional creative pursuits will be largely claimed by "ai" well before the decade is over. those that can stop it are too naive or too greedy to pump the brakes
man wtf is going on over there
It's so over

the way to go tbh
the way to go tbh
yeah man let's relinquish part of the acting art form to the algorithm because it not only saves a bunch of execs money and makes me, the already established actor, a little bit more but also creates a new group of middlemen execs to get paid

If I'm reading it correctly, it opens up the option for union members to work with Replica in the future under an equitable contract that mandates licensing agreements (so VOs get paid per use, presumably) and with opt-out permissions baked in after the fact.
From one of the replies.
I do agree it’s a slippery slope tho. Keeping my eyes on this one

i just can't see those supposedly equitable contracts matching a traditional hourly rate + residuals when a middleman, Replica, in the mix. and now that a client knows that the receivable will be genAI, do you really think they are paying full rate?
