MexikoDro dropped one of my favorite projects from last year (shout out @YoungNastyShawty for putting me on), and since then I’ve been fascinated by his appeal
If you go into his comments on tiktok you see things like “16 hour shift music”, “grown man music” etc and I came up with the name “Prefrontal Cortex Rap” to cover rap that talks about making grown man decisions, whether it’s from a younger guy like Dro or maybe an older rapper like Nas or Clipse (especially a song like The Birds Don’t Sing)
Who else do you think fits in this box? Why do you think it’s especially appealing for younger people - is it a bigger thing that ties into hustle culture, men’s instagram reels algorithms, a desire for something other than vapid rap caviar music, gen z loneliness, or does it just bang?
This sounds like eugenics
Lmaoo i def didnt mean to make it sound judgmental or better than any other kind of music, just music focused on grown man decisions
