I would argue the movie works better not knowing that much about the show. Because when you do know you know a lot of it is changes for sensationalism and to make a more entertaining movie. Ironically.

People that loved the movie the most are those that hated Chris Hansen going in. Many of whom did not watch the show, know the reality or even bother to read the article it was based on.

People in this thread were arguing this movie was absolute genius and anyone who felt differently was a Chris Hansen fanatic. Even while I applauded the cinematography and said it was entertaining performance . You were unable to have a good faith conversation with them because you pointed out the irony of the movie making many changes to be more entertaining and stand a better chance at awards manipulating reality. Which in itself was hypocritical. Then many of the said changes arent even creating a good or compelling story

Upon rewatch the movie definitely still falls apart around the 1 hour mark. I dont understand the argument that this movie aims to make the predators look better, they still are depraved and it shows it. Literally guy commits and his audio of him jerking off while talking to the decoy plays. It just also shows the hollywood side of it. Both can be true

Decoy dan solely exist because of a narrative being pushed. This would be fine if it was less obvious. I wish i went into this movie not knowing what was going to happen at the end. I feel like it wouldve been more impactful and i would be less critical of how it was portrayed

I did used to watch the show growing up and know why it ended so I'm not going in blind

It doesn’t try to make predators look better but in making Chris Hansen look so crazy it’s a jarring image of mainly calm or what appears to be emotionally regulated predators vs Chris Hansen who in the movie is borderline entrapment . Once you have decoys suggesting sexual ideas . Which didn’t occur

very much style over content imo but I fw the style, def worth catching on the big screen. v dense editing style and some borderline experimental trippy moments

Watched it tonight. Knew nothing about TCAP other than seeing some clips and all I knew about it ending was something about one of the predators committing suicide

I feel like this wasn't a very good movie because all it offers is a basic "this is what happened" while throwing a lot of clearly made up/exaggerated s*** in it or trying to link actual but unrelated events to the show's cancellation for dramatization. I don't think the threat of having his affair made public led to a spiral like the film depicts, I don't think Chris' relationship with Decoy Dan was actually like this, the s*** with him seeing a paranormal entity from India They kinda did Chris dirty with this movie

Visuals and Robert Pattinson carried. Otherwise this is a pretty pointless movie imo. Not very entertaining, barely informative

Still my favorite theater watch of the year have to rewatch
