they’ve done 3 since punk arrived. ppv business was up year over year with punk as well.

    That’s PPV buyrate’s.

You need to learn the difference between PPV buyrates and event gates.

Tony got on Twitter days before All Out and celebrated their first $1 million gate.

Wonder what this Dynamite rating is gonna be

It will be a good answer to how much the online stuff really does influence interest in the product.

I'm going to say a lot of s*** here but I'm going to preface it with an important disclaimer:
There are some things I genuinely do not know to be true. If you see the words "I believe" or "I had heard" or "One version of events I heard" then DO NOT TAKE IT as "I am saying/reporting this
definitively happened". There are also things I cannot expand upon and if that makes you angry, so be it. Also: if Dave, Bryan, or an external resource like Fightful contradicts some of the RUMORS I have
heard over the years, obviously believe them over me because they're incredibly well sourced. I'm just going to try and piece together what I have heard over the years:
I think I'm going to start with Tony Khan and his anger toward WWE as it pertains to "contract tampering" (note: I understand that "contract tampering" is not the appropriate legal term and have zero interest in yet again
hyper-focusing on the legalese). I'm going to quote from the Fightful Select story that was published late last night/early this morning:
G6 Immediately after the scrum rant, talent had informed Fightful that Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were extremely pissed off, and one claimed that they were threatening to walk over the comments. Fightful
Select but had heard prior that at least one of the Young Bucks had been in contact with talent outside of AEW indicating that many of the rumors heard about Punk and the frustration around him
    were true.
So let's dissect this a bit.:
I had heard weeks ago that the "significant" AEW talent was sniffing around a place they shouldn't be and trying to connect with people they probably shouldn't be trying to connect with. Let's assume that "significant"
talent was the Young Bucks, the place they were sniffing around was WWE, and the person they were trying to connect with was Paul Levesque: of course Tony Khan is going to be f***ing furious at them because they
aren't just significant guys that would be extremely difficult to replace, these are executives in your company - the Elite in All Elite Wrestling - potentially trying to gauge interest from WWE while they function as
EXECUTIVES in the company, who are about to be the inaugural Trios Champions, something that Tony Khan deliberately waited to introduce until the other remaining EVP returned from injury.
Now let's get to the second part of that Fightful report: the Bucks are burying Punk to "outside talent" and acknowledging that the "frustration" around him was true. Punk believes that the Elite leaked to various people
that he demanded Colt Cabana to be fired, the biggest catalyst for all these legitimately bad feelings (more on that later). Again, let's assume the Bucks were burying Punk to "outside talent" and telling them "Yeah
everything you hear about him is true" - that implies that Punk did want Cabana fired and was responsible for his demotion to ROH. From what I understand, that genuinely isn't true and I think I'm with Lanza from VOW
on last night's Flagship where he believed Punk when he said he didn't give a f*** about Scott Colton. My understanding is that's genuinely the case but, again, I don't know that for 100% certain.
Also: Hangman Page started all of this. I know most of you will not like to believe this but Hangman has had some issues because he's stiff as f***, he's legitimately hurt opponents, and he's ruffled feathers with the
whole "I don't listen t advice thing." This isn't to say he's a bad guy that's hated or anything but he's not perfect either. He started this with the "worker right's" comment that was a veiled reference to Colt Cabana. Should
Punk have given him that receipt? No. But this alllllll could've been avoided if Hangman never opened his mouth in that way.
Let's briefly circle back to Cody (and this is where I will piss many of you off and get the DMs of "just say what you know" and blah blah blah but oh well): if you believe that Cody's contract simply expired and he was
good enough to work on a handshake deal but WWE simply made him a better money offer and he decided to bet on his self (fucking barf) and that he didn't act like a f***ing snake during his time as an EVP and tried to
act like he was f***ing NXT HHH...I got a bridge to sell you and I pray that the whole story with him comes out one day. It would also explain why Tony is (in my eyes) understandably f***ing ticked off with "contract
    tampering.
The story I had alluded to in the other thread (AEW star asked but was not granted for their release): I believe it was this past Friday or so that people in the know heard a "top tag team" (believed to be FTR) were
meeting with legal representation to see if they could get out of their deals after multiple requests for their release was not granted. I know for a certainty that at least one outlet (don't know which one) was working on this
story and it was iced because they believed either TR were trying to work them or just cause further internal mayhem.
Continuing on FTR: I 100% believe that they think the Bucks don't want to do the biz for them and they're pissed off. I also think the Bucks might've been s***-talking them to "outside talent" along with their boy Punk
which, again, you're f***ing EVPs. Come on.
Malaki Black: the guy is going through some s***. I know he legitimately wants out, I have he has specifically stated he wants to go back to WWE, but I'm not sure what's in the cards. I don't release him if I'm Tony but
that's another story. I think he's done as Dave alluded to last night.
Andrade: said it before but people in WWE were openly talking about how they thought he was going to be back sooner than later.

  • Giz

Exactly. When has clique s*** ever panned out well for anyone, especially in business?lol Business always prevails. See Klique, The Rock, Bret, etc. This is why The Elite are expendable, they don't draw as much as they think they do. Punk and Mox does, and that pisses them off.

Kinda funny to say but I lowkey wanna see another Punk absence just to see the effect on the product numbers wise

Don’t think so, just looked it up on Google because I was thinking the same but didn’t get any info back saying they broke the 1 milli mark.

Khan made the announcement during an interview with News 12 Long Island.

Grand Slam was almost the first million-dollar gate in AEW history, just came shy of that, but it was real close and of course, we set that record now, for AEW Double or Nothing Las Vegas, became our first million-dollar gate for live tickets, and now just hit it again for our partnership with New Japan, for our Forbidden Door show at the United Center.”
