Still man, didnt seem likely that he would voluntarily step down

Once Vince, Dunn, Pritchard, and Ace are gone. WWE will be better off.

  • Jun 17, 2022

The board must have known this was coming and pulled Steph aside and told her to step down from her marketing duties so they could replace that role and have her free as a bird for this.

Vince will be back. It’s an internal investigation and I doubt anything happens. Sadly, Vince is still running creative even after stepping down.

    I dunno about that.

I get the feeling he would have stayed where he was if they didn’t think it would go beyond investigation.

See, I think it’s the opposite.

He has no obligation to stand down over an investigation in his own company.

But if they know some bad s*** will come of it? Getting him out the way to soften the blow now and get Steph started on some PR “big changes in this company” tour would be best.

Ace is gone at any moment (and he should never been head of talent in the first place) and Vince could be packing his bag at the end of this now 3 month long investigation.

STAMFORD, Conn., June 17, 2022 – WWE and its Board of Directors jointly released the following statement today:

Independent directors continue review of alleged executive misconduct
Stephanie McMahon named interim CEO and interim Chairwoman

Stamford, Conn. – WWE (NYSE: WWE) and the Board of Directors today announced that a Special Committee of the Board is conducting an investigation into alleged misconduct by its Chairman and CEO Vincent McMahon and John Laurinaitis, head of talent relations, and that, effective immediately, McMahon has voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board until the conclusion of the investigation. McMahon will retain his role and responsibilities related to WWE’s creative content during this period and remains committed to cooperating with the review underway.

The Special Committee has appointed Stephanie McMahon to serve as interim CEO and interim Chairwoman.

“I have pledged my complete cooperation to the investigation by the Special Committee, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation. I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are,” said Mr. McMahon.

“I love this company and am committed to working with the Independent Directors to strengthen our culture and our Company; it is extremely important to me that we have a safe and collaborative workplace. I have committed to doing everything in my power to help the Special Committee complete its work, including marshaling the cooperation of the entire company to assist in the completion of the investigation and to implement its findings,” said Ms. McMahon.

WWE and its Board of Directors take all allegations of misconduct very seriously. The Independent Directors of the Board engaged independent legal counsel to assist them with an independent review. In addition, the Special Committee and WWE will work with an independent third-party to conduct a comprehensive review of the company’s compliance program, HR function and overall culture.
The Company and the Board do not expect to have further comment until the investigation is concluded.

Dumbest thing I ever read. Why would he go back to the environment that gave him his heart attack?

HHH is done being hands on like that. He will do executive paper pusher work, but he isn’t getting back into the stress of being a promoter.

Steph was probably Vince’s pick and the board agreed since they trust her. Obviously Vince rather have one his own be in control then some random.

WWE board find out and start the investigation in April.

A couple weeks ago Steph all of a sudden quits WWE under strange circumstances.

    Insider leaks investigation to WSJ.

Vince takes leave of CEO spot, Steph returns as interim CEO

Anybody who hasn’t figured this out needs to watch more Succession.

I’m willing to bet the board knew this investigation was gonna end horribly for Vince and pulled Steph aside, told her they had confidence in her to take over and had her quit her VP duties so she would be free to assume CEO responsibilities.

But now this leak to WSJ has meant they’ve had to fast track Steph’a ascension and ask Vince to step aside due to the scandal being public and kept him on creative in the meanwhile.

Willing to bet those WWE insiders s***ting on Steph to the dirt sheets after her leaving are of the Ace, Pritchard and Dunn Variety that know of the board’s plan to have her replace Vince and were trying to make her look too unpopular to elect.

We don’t know that was the reason for that.

For all we know it could have been the stress Vince was putting on him for losing to AEW.

Imagine how breezy his life would be without Vince looming over him running that.

Besides, it’s not like NXT has improved without him.
