New Observer on AEW "Right now there is a ton of backstage drama involving many of the top guys that has gotten much worse in recent weeks...It feels like a number of people are close to their breaking point if things don’t get settled."
Wild times right before the biggest PPV of the year.
Feels like Tony needs to take charge and tell these talents to reel their ego back in.
Cabana seems to be the reason all this hell is breaking loose.
Doesn’t surprise me.
Colt was a soldier for the company during COVID and literally got demoted just because someone he doesn’t get along with personally is employed now.

It’s the timing that makes this all so weird.

Cabana/Cardona are both pioneers in the wrestling social media game.
I get Cabana played a huge role in the young bucks and etc. cabana leaving doesn’t make or break the company. While you need guys like him, it’s tough to lay down and get bossed around by Punk (that’s if the rumors are true). It just leaves a bad taste in peoples mouth over the way it was handled.
Punks too big to lose imo.

Punk’s been gone for months and apparently he started getting pissed off with Page when Page cut a promo right before DoN and then he got hurt a couple days after the PPV.
Looks like s*** has been brewing since then and Punk lit the powder keg with his shoot on Page on Wednesday.

And the thing is that nobody’s ever had a bad thing to say about Cabana other then Punk.
There are numerous people who say Punk’s a d*** IRL.
Punk has been needed but if he were to go then Tony can feel like he got the minimum out of Punk’s run. Big return, made all the money he spent on Punk back by All Out, got some big feuds in and got his big run back to the World Championship.
It would suck having him not continue but if Punk really is getting his WCW Hogan on backstage then it’s not gonna be worth it f***ing up the locker room state, making The Elite maybe opt out of the company and have the fan base turn on the product.
Tony needs to be Punk’s boss in this situation and not his best friend that we see in the press conferences.

That’s logical but could this be the story they tried to tell over the summer and punk went down with an injury that halted the plans?
Now we’re getting the fall of punk instead summer of punk?

I don’t think they’re gonna be able to work the 4 main wrestling reporters and the locker room by proxy with this.
It’s just like when people thought the Cody stuff was a work because they didn’t want to be marks but then it turned out that we actually were just watching Cody and Tony Khan not be able to come to terms.

There’s that also. I guess where there is smoke, there is fire. I am excited for Wednesday.

If Mox wins then I reckon Punk’s got his ball packed.

I totally agree with you. If so, what a disastrous return.

I wouldn’t say so.
We got one last greatest hits run from Punk for a year with some great matches and feuds.
Losing him now would leave a gap that would need to be filled but they would fill it and it’s not like Punk ever got the ratings to permanently increase (neither did Roman or Brock so that’s not a knock) so they would keep on rolling.
Better to leave it there then let Punk poison the company from the inside out. We’ve already seen what happens when a company becomes “X and his friends”.
Vince notoriously couldn’t reign in Shawn and Bret for a year or two before Montreal even happened no matter what he tried.
Bret ran up on Shawn for the “Sunny Days” promo and Vince’s response was minimal at best,
WON reporting that NJPW talent there for the G1 (bet it’s G&A lol) have indicated to Dave that they don’t believe Ibushi is coming back in.
Can’t see AEW pissing off NJPW and taking him so would be interesting to see where he goes. NOAH maybe?
The marks are really in the ring
If they're really beefin, just skrap backstage
"The last I heard when I was leaving, or retiring, however you want to put it, I knew that there was some shopping of networks going on at that point in time and they're probably still is as we speak, But I do think if there's a bigger network, and they can be bigger as far as numbers, weekly, I think they would be in that conversation that you're asking about because the fact is this. If AEW is as close to WWE as Impact could be as close to AEW in that same form, I think we're talking totally differently at this point right now and this conversation is not even brought up. I think they do a hell of a job on AXS TV and I think they do pretty decent numbers for the size of that network. So to me, it's about the numbers, man. It's not about the quality of work. That's for fuc*ing sure."
Keller said, "I can report that Tony Khan went into Punk's locker room and spent a decent amount of time with him one on one Wednesday afternoon. I can also report that Punk did not seem agitated or distracted or not his usual self right before Dynamite started. It didn't seem like anything was on his mind or that it was a stressful day or anything like that. He was totally going through the normal motions. So there's just a couple contextual things there."

So Tony probably told him everything he wants to hear.
