The trio fight on 7-36 makes me want to walk into traffic. Got crazy close the first attempt, but now I'm getting bodied

The last few fights in that canto are insane, especially with the unbreakable coins that inflict bleeding, you really need healing EGO or a passive (which you probably might not have if you are a new player) to get by that bleed. I had Hex Nail with Rodion so I got kinda lucky. IIRC you want to kill Barber first since Priest doesn't do much I think. I also believe there are certain skills you can ignore clashing with to prioritise doing damage. In my run I killed Dulcinea last but it might have been best to kill her 2nd since Priest isn't that threatning IIRC

Legit lol. I do have some healing EGOs (big one being Fluid Sac), but starting the fight without enough resources to use it for SP is kinda hurting me. I honestly don't know how I got so close the first attempt since I was just clicking random s*** lol. Think I got the last boss down to like 200hp then all my unleveled characters got one shot lmao.

Realistically, I probably should leave the dungeon, bump a couple IDs to UT4, but I really don't want to have to go through the dungeon again

I don’t think you need to restart the dungeon to level/uptie IDs but I could be wrong

Ah yeah, you're right. Think I made a similar mistake back in Canto IV trying to uptie an EGO but wasn't aware of how the checkpoints worked lol. Got a couple more UT4 IDs now, so we'll see how that goes. Got the last boss down to 300hp and got deleted again

Canto 8

I wanted to say this last week but Jia Qiu might be my favourite character in the game. Only did the first two nodes of part 3 but every exchange between Hong Lu and Jia Qiu is just reinforcing that sentiment

Too tired to form coherent thoughts but Part 1 and 2 were REALLY strong, Part 3 felt really short though which is kinda dissapointing because I thought it would be longer; I was low key expecting a surprise 2nd dungeon on the last node but w/e. Despite Part 3 being somewhat underwhelming I liked Canto 8 a lot. Dante's interaction with Hong Lu throughout the Canto and specifically at the end was especially beautiful to see. The focus on Hong Lu's character this Canto is reminiscent of Canto 4 which is also why I love this so much

im actually shameless i was too lazy to bother thinking to beat the final boss so i levelled up a team of robot faust, tingting hong lu, w corp don, spider ryushu, cinqclair, deici rodya, and ring yi just so i could have fluid sac resources on demand.

I have started appreciating Fausts Thoracalgia a lot since I started encountering unbreakable coins. The healing (whilst small and selective) is a pretty reliable way to sustain the AoE damage and because the healing comes from the passive you don't have to constantly gather resources to spam the EGO

Might be too early since you just finished it but thoughts on Canto 8? I’m pretty positive on it it but I think there were some areas I was a bit underwhemed by - such as Daiyu’s relationship with Hong Lu falling a bit flat on Part 3 since she kind of got sidelined (I wanted them to interact more). Out of all the Canto’s I think this one has the largest cast of characters so shifting focus towards the Elders felt a bit underwhelming even though it was necessary. I’m not mad at it though, out of all the Cantos this one felt the most ambitious and I think it might be difficult for PM to perfectly stick the landing if Canto’s are going to be restricted to 3 parts and have as much going on as this one

i do appreciate where canto 8 seems to be a turning point where Limbus might commit to the bit and go full visual novel. I think if you did a comparison of words per canto 8 would be the highest (which is good because you can win-rate most fights in the story other than the bosses so its not like we're losing out on anything with the extra time spent on writing).

I dont really think 8 has the emotional highs of the other cantos, but ita baseline level is definitely up there. And its honestly kinda fitting considering how even-keeled Hong Lu is

I think cutting down on some characters would have been good, but the characters that did get huge spotlights like Zhu Qiu or Lei Heng were awesome. Really looking forward to more pinky stuff cause the outlaws of the marsh are cool af and i want to see LC's version of it.

Agreed on PM committing on going full VN and funny enough I recalling seeing a post a few weeks ago where Canto 8 had already eclipsed every other canto (except 7) in terms of character count on just part 2 so it's definitely the lengthiest to date.

Imma need to read up on Water Margin because I have seen it mentioned a lot on discussions. Even from playing Ruina, the Pinky is the only Finger we don't know s\*\*\* about so it's going to be cool to finally get some background on them (And also how Ryoshu is linked to them). Also yeah, Kong Qiu and Lei Heng are probably my favourite side characters in the game so far, genuinely loved every moment they were on screen
