Matter fact all this culture talk is just bs
Yall niggas haven’t given back a single dollar to your community but tryna police what other niggas doin who have done 1000x more than you

    This is ridiculous

Nigga dont gotta be a rec league basketball coach or do turkey drives to notice the sum effect of an entertainer on #RAP culture

Lol we gotta stay focused. Niggas be kinda reaching man two completely different convos and if we wanna take it there drake has his share of glorifying bullshit in his music lol

All this talk about the f***ing culture and y’all can’t even define s*** fo real. Y’all picks and choose what’s the culture according to your balls not real measurement. Most overrated word of 2024 already

I think we can all agree the culture is at least comprised of people and fans, right?

Might be worth more today just because of recency but 20 years from now his catalog will not be worth more than MJ's lmao

I don’t think there’s any way to separately quantify how much revenue Drake’s music brings in

You can’t split up people’s $9.99 into saying they paid this to listen to Drake. Retroactively you can try to divide peoples listening patterns up like that but you can’t really quantify what people keep streaming services for before they listen to the music

i believe a big part of how they’d measure is exactly how u say it
the amount of time spent on the streaming platforms by listeners can be quantified exactly by each artist they listen to.

Of course, Apple / Spotify has their own in house models for how much money this is worth to them.

& their payment model to artists based on streams directly reflects this valuation where the artist is bringing in ‘x’ amount of revenue for them

He's gonna be in a Ye or Dre situation where it'll prolly only be valuable to the people who own all the music he got his songs just by virtue of the amount of sampling and artist credited but it'll prolly be one of the most valuable catalogs in Hip Hop tho.

It's sucks cuz we prolly won't ever get like a MJ or Queen level rap catalog value unless it's someone who uses mostly non sampled music.

Drake catalog is also mostly streamed so he's even more f***ed like people don't don't about that but alot of these newer artist mostly rappers are gonna be screwed cuz there's no way to quantify the value in their catalogs.

Niggas still buy Thriller vinyls but idk if Drake stuff or Travis or any of em will sell the same because they aren't physical artist.

If Drake decides to go Vinyl and Merch with releases a s*** ton of people are gonna cop. It’s gonna be a real booster yet he doesn’t, yet…

I think his core fans will but i doubt he has the pull to do it consistently he's shown he loves records and sales so if he thought he could move physicals he'd move em.

He’s bringing massive traffic, & u just heard from a leading exec how valuable his catalog is worth, not sure if you’re being purposely obtuse or what

I just don't think his core fanbase who go out and buy physicals is that big. Sure he's got a large casual base but they don't buy 10 vinyl variants like other pop artists his size.

    Honestly yes

Has had a more direct impact on much larger amount & currently younger demographic which will keep it relevant longer. U gotta think the internet opened up global accessibility a lot more than what was possible back during MJs peak era

I dnt think queens catalog would be worth that much tbh

being an anticapitalistic Western world citizen is lowkey a joke.

to authentically extricate any of us from participation in this system in any meaningful way beyond cosplay and LARPing is pretty much impossible.

write papers and give lectures i guess.
