you can't be serious
you said the weeknd is a terrible artist, can't take you seriously sorry
you said the weeknd is a terrible artist, can't take you seriously sorry
Don’t be sorry
huh? when did you start listening to the weeknd…
if anything that’s what he’s always done
Has he ever stepped out of his comfort zone musically ?
I don’t think he’s one dimensional. He’s just found a lot of success with his deritivative reductive 80s pop sound and stuck with it
His older music was much more diverse
Both Drake and weeknd one dimensional af when it comes to subject matter. At least weeknd has a Devil May Cry
What do you describe as his comfort zone? Cuz the contrast between Trilogy and Dawn FM couldn't be clearer.
Starboy/Dawn FM

What the f*** do y’all want these artists to do
What the f*** do y’all want these artists to do
Make a Billie Jean, Purple Rain, In The Air Tonight or Smooth Criminal etc.. instead of just generic party songs

In the Night
As You Are
Out Of Time
Sacrifice
Take My Breath
Can’t Feel My Face
Secrets
I Feel It Coming
Wanderlust
A Lonely Night
How do any of these songs give you a “generic party song” vibe lmao
Not everyone has to be MJ or Prince when it comes to subject matter bruh, just enjoy the f***ing music
Starboy and Dawn FM sounds nothing alike
Neither sounds like Trilogy, MDM or even BBTM
He really is very one dimensional in his songwriting, but sonically? Come on
Hes one of the only few mainstream artists that actually try to do something different every work
My problem with the Weeknd and Drake is when they try to make it clear how cool/great they are in their songs. I don't need that much diversity in their lyrics, I just want pure unadulterated shambles from these guys.
Abel still getting a lot of hate for BBTM and how poppy it was, but I really think he figured out the perfect balance of that original trilogy style with pop production in between Starboy and After Hours.
Last two projects have been exactly what I would’ve wanted in 2011 if you told me the mysterious trilogy dude was gonna be one of the biggest artists in the world. No way he would’ve got here making HOB 8x in a row.

My nigga who isn't. I never get this critique
