Soooo technically I’m not new to gaming, but I haven’t taken an avid interest in video games since 2012. A couple months ago I bought my friends PS5 in hopes of getting into the hobby again but lately it I haven’t been able to stick to it. I’m currently playing Spider-Man Miles Morales, and while I think it’s a fantastic game, I don’t feel motivated to complete it nor other story based games. I tried to get into Warzone but I SUCK at CoD, always have. What’s a fun, simple game that can get my feet wet in the world of gaming. My favorite game of all time is New Super Mario Bros for the DS, so if you have anything akin to that that’ll be dope.

Astro’s playroom is actually surprisingly good and a straightforward and fun platformer. Ratchet & Clank too.

But PlayStation is famous for story driven third person action games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, and God of War (2019) so you can give those a shot as well. They usually have easy modes if you find them too difficult.

Seems like youre not against "children" games since you like the DS mario game.

Try Spyro Reignited Trilogy Remake (my personal fave 3d platformer series), Crash Bandicoot 4 Its About Time, Kena: Bridge of Spirits (heard really great things about this for kids to adults), Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and Astros Playroom.

Immortals Fenyx Rising, Until Dawn, Detroit Become Human, Jedi Fallen Order, Borderlands series & Uncharted 4 can also be good picks for more "serious" but theme park-like games.

If youre into Turned Based games or JRPGs (theyre a lot more relaxed and whimsical & have plenty of play time) there are games like Persona 5 Royal, Ni No Kuni 2 & Dragon Quest 11.

That's all I can really recommend off top without more specifics. Also if difficulty is an issue, dont be afraid to go on a lower difficulty setting at least until you get your bearings back!

Like others mentioned, cop PlayStation plus so you can download a bunch of games for free or super cheap.

I literally don’t play any ps5 games on my system. Been downloading free or heavily discounted ps4 titles instead.

Fallout 4 is always on sale.
Bloodborne etc.

Just check the deals section on the PlayStation store and pick up something for the low.

This is the best advice. Get psplus and u will get 12 of the best ps4 games which you haven't played any of.

Imo, I have a recent rule for video games.

In rotation:

1. No-life game (Very long period of time, grinding)
2. Single-player game (Extended period of time, overarching story)
3. Short game (Short period of time, quick bursts, play when you're bored/don't have much time)

For PS5, I'd recommend:

1. Monster Hunter: World
2. God of War
3. Dead Cells
