cause of the way the games work though you can't play PS5 games off the external, it loads assets off the ssd like its ram so a slow external drive would bottleneck the system

but there will be data compression on the PS5 that should make games like 30% smaller if they're properly optimized

you'll be able to replace the drive in the console also but the drives will be pretty costly at first cause PCIe4 is so new
