but let me copy and paste it for those that cant read
"While Sony wants this new mode in games, the PS5 Pro “Enhanced” label will still be available for a variety of other scenarios that include 30fps games. Developers have the option of increasing the target resolution for PS5 Pro games that run at a fixed resolution on PS5 or even increasing the target maximum resolution for games that run at a variable resolution on PS5.
That could mean we see PS5 Pro Enhanced games that run at between 1080p and 1440p resolution at 30fps on the base PS5 and run between 1280p and 2160p on the PS5 Pro at the same frame rate. A fixed resolution increase from 1440p to 2160p would also qualify as a PS5 Pro Enhanced game. Developers could also choose to enable ray-tracing effects and get the PS5 Pro Enhanced label without improving resolution or frame rates. If a developer wants to target 60fps instead of 30fps with the same resolution, this may also qualify as a PS5 Pro Enhanced game.
Simply running a game at a more stable frame rate on PS5 Pro is not enough for the Enhanced label, though. Sony also won’t add the label to games that run with a variable resolution and see increased resolution on the PS5 Pro that doesn’t improve the maximum resolution. So if a game moves from 1440p–2160p variable to 1800p–2160p variable, this will not qualify for the Enhanced label."
if you read the article it expounds more than the headline and is useful information for consumers to know.....
I read the article before it was even posted in here lol. Nobody is arguing the usefulness of the information to the average consumer, I'm talking about the absurdity of a potential 60fps mandate on anything and talking about the lack of such a mandate as a surprising factor in discussions both here and elsewhere.
Do you always assume the least charitable read of anyone's post lol?

your summation of the article wasnt the relevant information. NobodyWins expecting every game to be 60fps is one dumbass who we know is a dumbass
there is no mandate but do they really want or care if you make a pro mode and it hits 30? No
they not begging devs to drop a 30fps mode
and in the case of specifically the pro patch its free waived we not submitting other bugs with it ....
After letting it marinate here are my thoughts on the reveal:
What I Like:
I think the biggest reason it appeals to me is because it provides EXACTLY what hardcore console players want. Being stuck between a visually appealing mode that is choppy and a low res mode that performs smoothly may be tolerable for some but I am extremely sensitive to it.
Pretty much every PS5 game I’ve had I’ve gone back and forth in the settings, flipping between fidelity and performance mode and not being satisfied with either. Certain games I didn’t even bother buying (like FF7 Rebirth) because I knew that performance and fidelity would be a problem.
The PS5 pro completely solves that issue and will allow these games that are intended to be hi-res to hit 60fps and beyond. That is a GAME CHANGER for someone like myself who doesn’t own a pc and has no intention on building one anytime soon since I prefer console gaming.
That honestly would be worth the upgrade alone for me but the fact that we are going to get triple the ray tracing power (which is lacking in the base PS5 even in Fidelity modes) and PSSR AI upscaling which is going to take low res assets and make them look wayyy better, is icing on the cake.
What I Didn’t Like:
Obviously I’m not looking forward to spending $700 on a gaming console like everybody else but I more so compare a device like this to a mid-range gaming PC and in that sense the price isn’t bad at all. What’s IS bad is the optics of that price for what is included.
I think charging $700 for a console and having LESS included than the model that’s $200 cheaper comes off as anti-consumer. Not having a disc drive sucks for me personally not necessarily bc of physical games but more so for Bluerays. Knowing how bad this looks you would think Sony would offer some sort of consolation for consumers and at least include a vertical stand but they couldn’t even do that. I’m also disappointed that they couldn’t find a way to package it with a duel sense edge. Pro Console should ship with a Pro controller imo.
Maybe, based on how much this thing costs to manufacture, a digital PS5 Pro with no accessories is the best they could do to stay under $700 but if that’s the case I think they should’ve just went ahead and did another sku for a $799 “Pro Max” version which would include a disc drive, a vertical stand, and a Duel Sense Edge.
The examples they showed off didn’t really make a compelling argument for the average person either. The presentation was way too short and way too fixated on old titles. They should’ve showed off something new running on both PS5 and PS5 Pro and compared that instead. I think the anti-consumer optics and the absence of any new games to show off completely ruined the presentation and left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths which may come back to bite Sony in the ass on release day.
At the end of the day I’m sold and I am getting one because it gives me exactly what I want as a console gamer but I understand why some people aren’t happy with the reveal
"A platform holder isn’t gonna mandate 60fps"
Condom eyes:
"uh huh okay. A platform holder isn’t gonna mandate 60fps nigga"

do patches cost money to drop yes or no?
Obviously...? A hardware platform isnt going to mandate that every game be 60fps. Think about what you're saying lol
Wtf would I pay for a pro for then?

I got a pc lmao. I'm making sure y'all don't gas up a $700 box with no games and no promises of making majority of Triple AAA titles to run at 60fps otherwise Sony is going to get more cocky
Price isn’t thaaat bad
The only bad part is disc drive and stand not being included
$600 Xbox series X with 2tb no one bats an eye

literally not true?
There’s a list of games that have ps5 pro support coming so those devs would indeed have dev kits…
Dragon’s Dogma 2
AC Shadows
Alan Wake 2 (briefly shown in the video extremely fast)
The Crew Motorfest
First Descendent
Wait u mean test kits for review outlets?
