Yeah a fight stick would be cool, I like my friends. I'll need 2 controllers asap anyways unless PS4 ones work on anything lol

Kind of want to just go big but idk I did find out more details are coming tomorrow anyways

    ps4 controllers dont work

so the cost of the pro then the disc one if you have ps4 disc you dont want to throw away then controllers then plus would get you close to 1000$

So have to do whats right for you. Dont let someone sell you on "its new its the best" when you want to play fighting games with friends . That is all I am saying. If it works for you thats dope but the Pro isnt going anywhere and the price won't go up only down. Play it smart

Exactly, the main thing I guess is if it will run well longer but I have a day 1 PS4 that basically works fine still anyways, so why bother going to the extreme

You get it. You got a wife. There are better things to spend the extra money on if you dont need to. If you want to upgrade to pro at a later date the demand to trade in a ps5 or both ps5 and ps4 will always be there. Having something first doesnt necessarily mean best for you

consoles can have launch glitches. The dev kits do exist but they are limited among third party and probably more widely out first party

we have no demands of "we need you to create a PS5 Pro version of your game that runs better. " which is why I compared it to a PC. It will naturally run better from what I am gathering but won't get the full juice out of it til devs make the choice to do so and we have both dev and test kits widely available which we currently do not

I dont really know yet, Id probably get the pass. I have a friend who just got a ps5 so whatever he wants to play (probably a lot of fighting games)

id like to replay dying light 2 with someone, ill replay GoT again for sure, and then I need to find games to play with my wife as well - we recently enjoyed it takes 2 and im interested in that sackboy game

I never got far in elden ring, maybe id retry that

Tbh bro I'd say the regular PS5 is all you need and you'll probably be able to get that even cheaper around Black Friday/holiday season. The Pro is really just a niche product for gaming enthusiasts, for everything you want to play the regular version should be more than enough

Also ghost looks amazing on PS5 already so I know you'll enjoy it

    Everything

Everything you just described is a perceived inconvenience for the average consumer. Every game on Steam doesn't even have proper controller support out of the box. I still frequently have to jump into settings on initial boot of a game because the resolution is incorrect. Several of the games I play require a full on fan patch in order to run at a functional level. These are "minor" things to people like us who play on PC but these are things a large number of people have no desire to confront when playing video games. They want an experience they feel is 100% tailored to their machine and don't want to so much as look at a settings screen, in-game or otherwise. Value proposition is still in console's favor because playing on a machine that requires 0 tinkering whatsoever and can run every modern game for $399 is hard to beat. I adore my Steam Deck, it's probably my favorite "console" ever -- but it requires a ton of tinkering if you want to delve outside of Verified titles (and even those sometimes run incredibly poor). It's a straight up worse experience than console gaming (not to mention the games run worse, look uglier, etc). Nobody wants to have to update their Proton version or go into the game's settings to make sure you have the Compatibility box checked. Niggas are NOT trying to do any of that.

A lot of people don't even have their PCs in the same room as their primary TV lol.

wait what? bro what is you talkin about? what exactly about what i said is inconvenient? me playing a game on a couch? you’re not making any sense man. you need to hook up consoles to tvs for them to work, too, and i use usb cables with both my consoles. and all that bios s*** stuff again is optional because i CHOSE to mess with it. you don’t “need to” to make the damn thing play games. and you’re seriously gonna talk about performance when that’s partly the whole damn point of going PC vs console… PS5 struggles to run most of its games at “quality” mode above 30fps dude.

value proposition is completely subjective, there is no “right” value proposition that fits any one person and when i mentioned it before i was talking about my own. to me paying $399 for something that has no games and is completely proprietary vs around that, a little/a lot more or even less for a PC i can not just play but DO anything on, couch or desk or literally anywhere like in bed next to my girl or in the mf airport (steam deck in this case), is a no brainer.

your points about tinkering overall don’t represent my experience when it comes to steam, gog or even installing a repack or two, but is also just straight misleading. i need to tinker with games usually when i pirate older titles, and that’s usually about it outside of exceptions here and there, and all i usually have to do is change the resolution for those usually old and now totally unsupported titles lol. the older you go the likelier you’ll have to do some tinkering, of course, like when i played prey or anachronox i had to mess with ini files, but that was less than a 5 min process, and neither of those games are on PS5 anyway so what are we talking about here really lmfao. s*** like modern games not launching in your native resolution is definitely not normal and i have almost never experienced that. trying to use games that don’t immediately just run with everything preconfigured in steam or that need nothing more than a few settings in the ingame settings menu changed (not even talking about ini edits and s*** like that at all here) as somehow representative of the whole experience is insanely misleading, especially when you consider that most of the games you’re trying to throw under the bus here are not even playable on modern consoles. not that these niggas would even be interested in playing these damn games we’re discussin anyway.

and idk who the hell you’re talking about here but niggas being too scared of SETTINGS MENUS doesn’t sound realistic at all. you’re gonna need to source that aside from “a large portion of people” and your word my nigga lol. these niggas have to change their controller sensitivity in valorant or whatever s*** they play, right? that or going in to enable subtitles or accessibility settings in last of us or gow2018 or whatever. sounds like you’re just talking about boomers atp because if you’re too impatient for a settings menu i mean what the f*** is really goin on. settings menus need to be dealt with on all platforms, PC or proprietary console be damned

i’ve played dusty troika CRPGs like arcanum and VTMB or literal dead games being revived by fan servers like dragon’s dogma online. and yeah, those first two games require fan patches, but calling them just “required fan patches” is misleading when the unofficial patches for both those games do cool s*** beyond that like restore cut content or add optional mods etc. and are brain dead simple to install, being a windows installer most of the time. and even still those games, especially DDO which literally got its servers shut down, can't even be played on console in the first place, especially when the type of niggas you’re describing (insanely impatient and borderline computer illiterate) wouldn’t care to play these games anyway, so bizarre thing to bring up in defense of consoles

like i said i don’t wanna make mfs feel bad for their purchases, for the record i have a series x and PS5 and a jailbroken PS4 lol. thanks for the look into the mind of the average console enjoyer i guess, but that doesn’t change the fact that the tinkering is basically optional, and pretty much entirely depends on what games you wanna play. if you wanna play the newest popular online title you download install and launch it or buy it on steam or wherever. you’re not going in and tinkering with command prompts just to play games anywhere like it’s 1993 on DOS lmfao. i know little kids that play roblox on their android phones and gmod on their lil laptops since we’re doing anecdotal evidence, PC gaming is not this niche super inaccessible thing anymore. you’re making downloading the latest games on steam and firing em up sound like building a raspberry pi and needing to install gentoo on it and compile steam from source or something.

I had issues starting cyberpunk that only got sorted after going through some bios s*** reading through reddit. I don't expect to be going online finding solutions to play a game. Cool u love it. Most people wanna unwind, lay on the couch and play some games on their TV...not sitting behind a desk like they been doing coming home from work

Recognize Sony let that game pass certification
