Both of these systems have been increasingly rumoured this year from credible sources (look ‘em up yourself lmao).
Both have been claimed to target a 2024 release (of course plans can change). There may be a "PlayStation vs. Nintendo" clash during the 2024 holidays 👀
One is an enhanced revision and the other is a whole new platform, so it may seem like I’m comparing apples and oranges, but they’re both new hardware nonetheless. And it seems like most posters in this section are interested in both platform holders (Sony and Nintendo), so I thought it’d be interesting to see what y’all thinking a whole year ahead of these new hardware launches.
Respect to those copping both
there’s like 4 games total exclusively made for the standard PS5 at this point, there’s literally no point to getting the new model
on the other hand, the Switch 2 will definitely be getting some exclusive games right out the gate
Switch 2 if it launches with Metroid prime 4 / a new 3d Mario
Ps5 pro can wait until they show me something that makes it worth it.
Switch 2.
PS5 hasn’t really been pushed to its limits like when PS4 was before the Pro dropped
Switch 2. part of the reason why i really only play Nintendo games is because they actually feel like finished products lol.
i sound very ignorant, but the moment that many developers found out that they could turn in half-finished products and just use locked content on the disc as DLC in the 2010s was the moment i checked out of gaming personally. it's a gamble buying a game nowadays (especially for PC ports)
I’m only getting a Switch 2 seeing as I’ll be a new PS5 owner relatively soon (as soon as this week if all goes well).
I don’t have a 4K TV to take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s boosted power, nor am I planning on getting one in the near future.
I wanna cop a PS5 asap to play FF7R and to get ready for REBIRTH
ps5 pro first
might dabble into Switch 2 later who knows
Just curious, do you already own a PS5?
No lie I won’t be copping anything til next gen. Kinda annoying how manufacturers consistently churn out ‘upgrade’ consoles every few years.
Maybe they should experiment with consoles with parts soon like PCs. Would be interesting
If Switch 2 can play Elden Ring, I will sell my PS5.
Won’t happen. Doubt the switch will be like that

Elden ring can run on a Xbox One lol, it'll easily run on switch 2 based on leaks that came from stolen data from nvidia. It all comes down to if bandai wants to port it
There aren’t even that many PS5 games to make a Pro worth it (if it were to even come out next year, highly doubt it)

Yeah it runs half baked on an XB1 because it has the specs to run it
What specs is the Switch 2 supposed to have to be able to run a game like Elden Ring? Genuinely asking btw not beefing

This video shows the lowest congifuration the switch 2 will have, based on what we know. Of course you dont need to watch the whole video, just watch the segments where he tests some games. We dont know yet things like ram and clock speeds, and the config used in this video isnt exactly 1 to 1. Basically, we're getting a more modern ps4 pro + dlss in docked
