I believe Sony's philosophy is that the main system sellers at launch are gonna be 10-16 y olds who have probably never seen a PS3 in front of them, so backwards compatibility beyond the PS4 is unnecessary. Not saying this is right, but further BC could be added later like MS did with Xbox one

You would be wrong. They had 100 million consoles sold but spiderman and god of war did 10 million each

The vast majority of people who buy these consoles and play them daily are not playing exclusives. It's all multiplats, multiplayer, and f2p s***.

Most important thing is marketing before the release of the console and rn sony is fumbling but they are banking on people already being too invested in playstation to change

I’d be worried about PS4 games if anything, that’s it. Even then after 1 year of PS5 I wouldn’t care about BC w PS4 anymore

Same I still own all of my consoles all the way back to the PS1 and once a new console comes out I never go back to the previous one anymore. I done already played the s*** out of them old games. I want new s***.

So yeah imma wait for the PS5 Pro and meanwhile build a custom PC unless a VERY MUST HAVE exclusive gets released before 2023-2024 which is when the PS5 Pro gets released hopefully.

im still keeping my ps3 around so i can play raychet & clank or jk & daxter if i ever feel like it (which i never do) and really hoped that ps3 bc would allow me to get rid of that fridge
