Begin to tell me I love hearing how music resonates with people
I saw a YouTube comment that said something like Xtal sounding like a shower and it’s so accurate. It feels so nostalgic/futuristic at the same time. Everything about it screams classic

Selected Ambient Works 85-92 was of the only things I found calming for depersonalization back in the day. It was really alien, disaffected music but the old school tech on those songs gave off a comforting, organic warmth too.
I remember I was trying to get my drivers license back in oh I think summer 09 and I'd take down the freeway to nowhere at like midnight just trying to get out of my parents' house and connect with everything happening to me. I have this vivid memory of miles of neon white street lamps cutting through fog like lasers from the night sky with those Aphex Twin tracks on the stereo. Couldn't have picked a better album for how I felt at the time.
These days I listen to a lot of deep house when I feel like that, but Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is always there.

This was a lovely read I love having those sort of similar experiences
So uh, before I get too attached and realize I won’t ever see them in concert like I did when I got into daft punk 3 years ago almost, does Richard go on tour/do concerts normally ? Outside of covid obviously

Thanks. I think that vibe is why music like synthwave is so popular, it's perfect for that kind of nocturnal out of body experience
in terms of more accessible ones, film, IZ-US, alberto balsam etc. spring to mind, but my all time fave track by him HAS to be Vordhosbn
When y’all talking about this guy in real life are you supposed to know the full song name

The internet is "real life" for Aphex Twin stans

Dope thank you
I loved when my boy sent me this and I recognized it immediately from Ye
The craziest s*** is that even the newer stuff is close to being on the same level as the peak stuff
Girl/Boy Song is one of those tracks where I just kind of stare off into space and wonder how a guy could make something that pretty. Like compositionally it's up there with some Brian Wilson/Beatles s***.
I really got into Richard D James Album around the time I started listening to this Venetian Snares album:
I haven't found many breakcore/modern classical hybrids like that but when I do it's usually awesome.
The music seems to be inviting to psychedelics but the cover art would scare the s*** out of me
