Recently I started exploring different genres as background music while I study for my finals, sometimes funk, soul and sometimes jazz.
Two of the songs that resonated with me the most are these two
Marvin Gaye - Come Live With Me Angel

    Roy Ayers - Searchin’

I need more of this vibe, feels very care-free, like spring, beautiful to begin your day with and study to

Al Green is great, I'd say start with 'I'm Still in Love With You' then 'Call Me'

Minnie Riperton is nice too, her album 'Come to My Garden' is flawless.

    Gil Scott too

See what ya think of those.

My family used to play this song! I thought Mr Morale and The Big Steppers title was inspired by this band and that we’ll get this type of music from Kendrick

Butcher Brown is a modern band doing a similar sound to Roy Ayers and RAMP

You would enjoy other current jazz acts like Makaya McCraven, Dougie Stu, Jeff Parker & the New Breed as well as poppier, more soul artists like DJ Harrison
