the extra 10 minutes adds nothing to the story, it's just a quick 5 minutes of "promo" type filming before and after the movie. I was kinda disappointed

  • I was quite disappointed overall. A lot of the movie just felt like Tarantino was trying to prove that he could emulate styles of the past (like the entire scene about filming a western tv show), but he's already directed a western so really what's the point. Too much bloat and too little focus on characters/plot.

was genuinely surprised by how many people were underwhelmed by this. Part of me feels like it has to do with all the Tarantino backlash in recent years.

Nah, there's very few on that boat, it's the slow burn and choice of direction. My homies are big on Tarantino, even loved Hateful Eight. I think the second act, a big chunk in the middle just lost some folks. It could be seen as a drag and a filler, the movie isn't afraid to stroll around or even 'meander'. It's less direct than previous Tarantino films, so it's easy reaching a point of you wondering if the movie even had a purpose to being with, leaving the theater I wasn't very impressed I was more so iffy and confused about the film. Majority of my friends disliked it, one of them even left the theater as did other audiences lol. It wasn't til the morning after that it really clicked for me.

True, it just seemed like people were initially excited about it being a slower burn like Jackie Brown was but I get how the movie could be boring for some people. Personally I had no issue with it and not a single scene dragged. I had to pee really bad after an hour in but forgot I had to once I turned my mind back to the movie again lol

Yeah I think the initial promos, reviews and critical hype that it massed might have set them up to be disappointed. It's not very 'Jackie Brown' or 'Pulp Fiction', in someways tonally it's very much new to QT, it's more personal and even more toned down than the movies it were compared to. There's a lot of layers to this. The whole 'QTs best movie since....' talk didn't help either lol. Loved it tho, hopefully they'll get on board with this film once it's all said and done

  • F***in loved this film. It reminded me of this manga / anime called "Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad" but with the film industry instead of the music one. I feel like it's a slowburn that pays off & I really liked Cliff Booth. My only complaint is that I wish Sharon Tate got more scenes, but I liked what we did see of her.

agreed, I know Brad is the better actor but in this movie I really don’t think he outshined Leo. They played well amongst one another, there really wasn’t a moment where I was like man Brad is really acting circles around Leo right now because his performance was never supposed to be showy. He never brought attention to himself - all you could say is his character was more charismatic and that’s because he was supposed to be.

All I'll say is that I can definitely see Brad grabbing a Oscar for this before Leo

    Both were great tho

Anyway yeah I agree but talking about fantasies doesn’t contribute to the discussion of the film imo
