Adam Scott's death reminded me of the comics I used to read as a kid.
I recently tried reading some of them to see if they held up. I think most of the ones that did like Calvin and Hobbs or The Far Side have received the respect and recognition they deserved.
One my dad liked was Pearls Before Swine. I didn't like the comics I found, but maybe it used to be better.
Either way, I noticed something about the character dynamics: the comic revolves around an incompetent, childish pig; a trollish, cynical Rat who often gives Pig bad advice that gets him into trouble; and a paternalistic, lawful good Goat who gives the Pig good advice and helps him get out of trouble.
these are the exact character dynamics of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I'm not even a big fan of the show and it stuck out to me. ATHF was started like a year or two before Pearls Before Swine.
I'm not saying that ATHF's dynamics are the most original thing in the world but I genuinely wonder if it served as inspiration for Pearls Before Swine because of how similar the two are.
